Here's a place where we can discuss specific books, series, or comparisons of books published after 2010. The date is completely arbitrary, if you end up posting about older books here, you won't hear about it from me.

If you're a fan of books involving talking animals who go on adventures, then you might enjoy the "Astro's Adventures" series by Susan Day.

Actually, Susan Day's other books make for pretty good reading too, and also feature animal main characters.

If you like superhero stories, you should check out David EstesNikki Powergloves books.

David is known more for his Young Adult books, but he has a fantastic series for children who enjoy superhero stories.

The Nikki Powergloves books are about a young girl named Nikki who finds a magical chest full of gloves that give her super powers.

Sheree Bonita (shereebonita) | 1 comments David Estes is awesome.

For young, young kids also check out: Rachel Schade.

She has a book out called My House Is Falling Apart. Super short and cute!

Hey folks,

Have you heard that the Woods are putting out a sequel to The Napping House? It's called Full Moon in the Napping House and it is going to be released on September 1st.

I don't know about you, but I am a big big fan of the Woods, and it started for me when I read and reread (without tiring) The Napping House to my daughter.

So, YAY, good news for Friday.

Awesome!

I haven't read it, but it sounds like a great read, so a sequel can only be a good thing!

Madeline Reynolds | 69 comments I recently read a series of novels called Dream Ring which was written after 2010. It was inspiring to me because the author is only a teenager like myself. Her name is Hannah Hoffmeister, and she is currently 17 years old. The story is fantasy fiction and similar to the Harry Potter series in the way that her main character, Ava discovers that she is a witch and goes to attend a school for wizards and witches. She goes on many adventures at her new school, and I believe that it would be an entertaining read for any middle grade student.

Sounds really good, and I think it's great that younger writers are able to get their books out there these days.

Sandra (sanlema) I just read last week an advanced copy of Ghostly Thief of Time: An EMU Club Adventure by Ruben Bolling. It is being published in a few days if I remember correctly.
I would say it's for a 8-11 years old range. It's funny and visual attractive. It's the second in the EMU Club series. I haven't read the first one yet, but I plan to do it soon.

Here is my review, if someone is interested.

If you haven't checked out the Silly Willy Winston books by our own group member, Donna Maguire, then you should do so! They're fun and educational reads.

Ellie Firestone's Super Sporty books are great reads too. Plus, Ellie is also a member of this group.
