Tammy | 395 comments In another one of my groups someone brought up this topic because apparently the Goodreads blog topic today was, "10 Characters You'd Fall For In Real Life." Their list included people like Katniss Everdeen and Mr. Darcy. The group that I saw this topic in reads primarily urban fantasy and science fiction. I couldn't help thinking that this would be a better topic for this group because we know good heroes :)

So who would you fall for in real life? It okay if he's dangerous, if that's what you like....

(my apologies if this topic has been done, when looking through the old topics I only saw favorite hero type)

I have quite a few book boyfriends, I need to consider to which I'd fall for in real life :)

Good idea for a thread. I think this is the list of heroes I'd probably fall for in real life.

Carter McKoy from The Texan's Wager
Simon Hunter from Secrets of a Summer Night
Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird
Matt Murdock aka Daredevil (Marvel Comics)
Miles because I love nerds--Fatal Strike
Adam Hauptmann from Mercy Thompson Moon Called--so in love with him!
Samuel Gerard from The Shadow and the Star
Max Hunter from Bonds of Justice

I could probably think of more.

Hmmm, good list and some of those would be high on my list. Got to think on this one.

Tammy | 395 comments Simon is a good one!

I'd add Adam Hauptman from the Mercy Thompson series. I know he's a wolf but I think he's a good husband and father

Okay, characters I'd fall for in Real Life! This is hard because I have a slew of heroes I adore but how would I like them in real life? Most of them are the uber alphas and I have to be honest and say I'd probably not be too fond of them. I'm a mellow person but I hate for guys to tell me what to do like most women. So I had to weed out the worst of the bunch and I came up with a few heroes.

Jax Cullen or just about any of the heroes in Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series.

Zach McBride from Breaking Point

Matt Sanders from Pursuit

Benedict Bridgerton from An Offer From a Gentleman

Winter Makepeace from Thief of Shadows

Carter McCoy and Atticus Finch from Danielle's list would be in the running too.

Probably have a bunch more but...

Yes, I would not mesh well with an uber-alpha in real life. We'd probably fight all the time!

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments Atticus Finch.

From TV, I'd probably fall in love with these guys in real life.

Ichabod Crane from Sleepy Hollow
Wesley Wyndham-Price from Angel
Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds
John Reese from Person of Interest

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Ichabod Crane - Yes, he's so good looking and that voice.

My TV loves also are

Daryl from The Walking Dead
Jamie Lannister from GoT - Yes, I know he's done some bad things but he's on the road to redemption.
Ross Poldark from BBC Poldark (Aiden Turner, yummy)
John Thornton from BBC North and South (Richard Armitage in anything really.)

John Thornton, huge sigh!

I really like Tyrion from GoT. Not my typical type, since I like tall guys, but there's something about him.

Spencer is who I was thinking about for unattractive/non-traditionally attractive guy who grows on ya, Daniella. I decided he really is a hottie ;)

message 26: by Pallavi (new)

Pallavi (threequartersthedevil) | 78 comments Here goes mine :P (This was really really tough given the number of fictional men I've crammed into my heart lol)

From Books :
Zach Benedict from Perfect
Coburn from Lethal
Reno from Fire And Ice
Hunter from Unlawful Contact
Diaz from Cry No More

From Historicals I think Sebastian from Devil in Winter, Winter Makepeace from Thief of Shadows or Sir Mark Turner from Unclaimed

message 27: by Pallavi (new)

Pallavi (threequartersthedevil) | 78 comments From TV :
I'm just realizing that my Girl crushes > Hot-Men-I'd-wanna-date.

So, here's a mix.
Effy Stonem from Skins (UK version)
John Thornton from North and South (definitely :P)
Cosima from Orphan Black (More people need to watch this show. Tatiana Maslany is a Goddess. She's frikkin' phenomenal)
Damon Salvatore from TVD (Well, I've stopped watching this show but I remember my phase. So yeah!)

And prolly a gazillion men from Korean dramas. I shall not even bother listing cause it's gonna take me months to complete this one.

I think you're attracted to his brain, I think you'd have great conversation with Tyrion. I think there are some attractive men in the Stark family-Ned, Rob and Jon. I think all of them would make good husbands.

Ah. thank you!

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments Tyrion is sexy, that's true. He would be high-maintenance, though, as he can get a bit murdery.

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments As a woman of A Certain Age (as we say when our roots are showing) I was in love with Ned Starck and devastated when he was de-SPOILER! Should have known, of course. Actor Sean Bean isn't known for Happily Ever Afters for his film characters. Since I'm on the Sean Bean topic, I have a fantasy three-way love affair with his and Viggo Mortenson's characters in Lord of the Rings.

We might have similar tastes. :) I might have listed Coburn and Diaz, but I don't know if I'd really fall for an assassin in real life. Love them in fiction though.

True that! I like Jon a lot. My problem with Ned is how severely he underestimated the Lannisters. :(

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) He was just too noble for his own good. And Jon was much the same way.

Tammy | 395 comments I just did a re-read of The Secret (Highlands' Lairds #1) by Julie Garwood so I have to add Iain Maitland . Really I love all of Julie Garwood's historical heroes lol

My favorite heroes from historical romance are usually a bit gruff or start off indifferent towards the heroine, so I can't really say I'd fall for any of them in real life

message 44: by ✿ Natalie ✿ (new)

✿ Natalie ✿ | 428 comments I've been mulling over this one for some time. I love so many of the hero's I've read. Of course, the dangerous, rough around the edges guys call to me. But in real life...nope, just too scary, intense, overpowering, angst ridden etc etc! No 'normal' with some of them if we're actually talking about living a real life with them as a partner who I could deal with on a daily basis!!
Even guys I think are lovely and would be good partner/husband material (like Jamie Fraser from Outlander) just wouldn't really fit my personality.

The male book characters I can think of who I could fall for in real life are

Legolas from The Lord of the Rings (The Lord of the Rings, #1-3) by J.R.R. Tolkien
Lucivar from The Black Jewels Trilogy Daughter of the Blood, Heir to the Shadows, Queen of the Darkness (The Black Jewels, #1-3) by Anne Bishop
Lord Hugh (Red) from Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier
Darragh from Child of the Prophecy (Sevenwaters, #3) by Juliet Marillier
Gitan from Fallen Angels (Crowning Mercy, #2) by Bernard Cornwell

A couple of those are dangerous hero's but they are well-balanced men emotionally!

✿ Natalie ✿ | 428 comments From a TV point of view I have to agree with all those who said John Thornton from North and South as played by Richard Armitage! He was so much more interesting on tv than in the book!
I'd also agree with Jon Snow from GoT.
John Ridd (played by Richard Coyle) in BBC Lorna Doone. It was Aiden Gillan's Bad boy Carver Doone who gave me the shivers (and was one of my early dangerous hero crushes!) but it's John here who is the husband/partner material!
