Annalea (poetsinprose) | 20 comments I'm an editor/writing coach/proofreader. I've done some professional work, but mostly I love to help authors. I got started helping roommates and floormates at college turn their low-graded papers into A papers. Talk about a rush . . . ;o) I've had great opportunities to work with some authors in the last few months, and I'm eager for more. Right now, this is a hobby-type thing for me. I don't need to support my family; I'm keeping my skills sharp and loving working with words again.

I have something of a forte with regency romance (I've read a lot of Heyer, and others) {grin}, but I've edited all kinds of (clean/non-horror) things.

Here's how I'm currently working:

First read-through is free. You provide a copy of the book, and I'll get back to you with quoted lines and notes in a reasonable period of time, (usually about a week, depending on the length of the book), and am happy to discuss and work through problem spots, etc. Any work after that can be negotiated; and I'm just working for hobby money right now, so I'm pretty darn affordable, even for self-pub indie authors.

I blog about writing at www.PoetsInProse.com, and you can contact me at Annalea@PoetsInProse.com

For more work history: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/annalea-e...

I'll add a link with feedback from authors with which I've worked soon.

Maria Schneider (bearmountainbooks) | 36 comments I do storyline editing and my husband does copyediting. We have reasonable prices. Email me for details.

Storyline editing: Point out plot holes, inconsistencies, info dumps that may bore the reader, timeline problems, point out any confusing areas, character development, etc.

Copyediting: Copyediting is done last. The copyediting we provide is a two-pass copyedit. After the first pass is done, you make the changes according to what you want to change and then a second pass is made to fix anything that was "broken" during fixes or anything that was missed in the first pass. This includes grammar, commas, spelling, typos, two or three spaces where there should be one, etc.

References available. I am familiar with a broad range of genres.

Thanks,
Maria

Linda Carroll-Bradd (linda_carroll-bradd) | 158 comments I have been a contract editor with two small presses and have operated a freelance editing service for 5+ years. My business, Lustre Editing, offers three types of edits--proofread, copy and content--and plot evaluation with no editing. See www.lustreediting.com for examples of edit types and fees.

Amy Keeley (safire_blue) I've decided to do some editing on the side, both structural and copy editing. I've been part of various writers' groups off and on since 2004, and have traded critiques with a number of writers. I like it and would like to do more of it. :) More information about the services I provide and fees I charge can be found here: Editing Services. I can be contacted through the form on the site.

The first five customers get a free edit on their first project.

Thank you.

Amy Keeley

Lynne Stringer | 173 comments Hi there! I offer a full editing service, giving you feedback on all aspects of your novel or non-fiction book. I charge $25 an hour (it generally takes about 10 hours to do 50,000 words) and require a $25 deposit before I commence. Payment is through paypal.

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ I do proofreading, which includes spelling/grammar/formatting correction and commenting on any errors or problems that I see in the text.
