Many people believe that UFOs from outer space have already visited us, and a big, government cover-up is hiding the facts from the public. The date for this special day was chosen because it is the date of the Roswell Incident, a historical event leading to wide speculation and belief that aliens have indeed visited us.
Read a science fiction, fantasy or PNR book; or a book where there is (or believed to be) a government conspiracy or cover-up; or a book set in New Mexico (where the Roswell Incident took place); or read a book with the letters U, F, O somewhere in the title.
8. July 14 – Bastille Day: Bastille Day commemorates modern France and French democracy. Bastille Day symbolizes the end of the constitutional monarchy, and the beginning of the democratic republic of France. To Frenchmen, Bastille Day is viewed as their liberation.
Read a book set in France; or a book where a monarchy plays a major role or the MC is part of the aristocracy (has a title); or read a book where a character celebrates a personal freedom (out of jail, divorce, starting over in a new town, new job); or read a book where there is any kind of celebration of a national holiday.
9. July 24 – Amelia Earhart Day: Amelia Earhart Day honors a famous aviation pioneer who broke many early aviation records. Amelia Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, were lost during a difficult leg of the journey towards Howell Island in the Pacific.
Read a book about a pilot or where there is travel by plane or a plane on the cover; or read a book set in the Pacific Islands; or a book where the MC is a pioneer (or considered an expert) in their profession or just loves their job.
10. Reader's Choice: Read any book of your choice.

7. July 2 – World UFO Day: World UFO Day seeks to get governments to fess up to the existence of UFOs.
