Amazon has announced a New Kindle Unlimited (KU) / Kindle Owners Lending Library (KOLL) Royalty Formula for authors. In short, any time a book is borrowed under the KU or KOLL program, the author will be paid based on how many pages the borrower reads of that book.

(The old formula counted the book as read (for royalty purposes) if the borrower read 10%.)

Yeah, it seemed like an improvement to me, too (despite a lot of articles in the press that missed that point.) I expect to see fewer of those 35 page books in the future.

And that can only be a good thing. Those things were so annoying to download.

Or, if the book is rubbish and you don't get past 12% they only get paid for that much. :) *giggles*

Well that's too bad for them but one cant argue that its more accurate and fair this way.
