Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments I am a bit behind probably in realizing that 2015 is the year for X, Sue Grafton's long awaited and dreaded last letter of the alphabet book in the Kinsey Milhone series. X
I am excited and sad a bit...
And obviously need to study the alphabet song more closely...

LizH (liz_h) | 955 comments Pardon my ignorance, but she is not going to do Y and Z? Any reasons?

message 3: by Shomeret (new)

Shomeret | 1490 comments How about Y is for Yield with a Yield sign on the cover? Hmm... probably not very marketable.

OK, how about Z is for Zany? I'd go for that. Z is for Zealot could be very marketable.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Y is for Yiddish. She could set it in Brooklyn.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments from Amazon:

Sue Grafton’s X: Perhaps her darkest and most chilling novel, it features a remorseless serial killer who leaves no trace of his crimes. Once again breaking the rules and establishing new paths, Grafton wastes little time identifying this sociopath. The test is whether Kinsey can prove her case against him before she becomes his next victim.

YIKES!

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments p.s.: I'm #114 hold on 14 copies...

message 9: by BarryP (new)

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Why do you need 14 copies?

message 10: by LizH (new)

LizH (liz_h) | 955 comments Ok, so thanks all for clearing that up for me, lol!!

{{{sigh}}}

message 12: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments and the book as released is simply X, not "X is for anything"!
I am up to W is for Wasted and will read it soon so that I can get to X!

message 13: by OMalleycat (new)

OMalleycat | 1448 comments What? No one is reading X? I just finished it. It's pretty standard Grafton fare of late. I don't read these books for scintillating mystery, but to revisit old friends. On that score, this book is a hit, with lots of Henry. The theme is scamming and there are a couple of interesting ones.

As she's done in the last few books, Grafton has a newsworthy topic to explore. This time it's water conservation which is pretty dull, frankly. But it was interesting to realize how far back the serious drought began in California.

Anyway, thought I'd check in with y'all to see who liked it and who didn't. Kinsey is obviously not must-read-when-first-released any more! I still get them first day for my mother and then read her copy, so for once I'm fairly current and timely!

Miss all of you and the conversations. . .someday I'll retire and come back to book-obsess with you.

Love you,
Jan

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Jan O'Cat!!!
So good to see you!! I'm one book away from trading X now I think. I agree that visiting old friends is a big draw for the Kinsey series, and it is always good to visit with friends!! When you have time to take back up with us we are ready!!

Merrilee in AZ | 1121 comments I enjoyed X as you both stated. It's good to visit old friends

message 16: by Blueberry (last edited Nov 30, 2015 04:54PM) (new)

Blueberry (blueberry1) I read X mid-October. I gave it 4 stars but can't really can't remember it other than the neighbors. I remember when I read it wondering "where is the sociopath?" because the summary on Goodreads says she identified him/her right away.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Wow, Jan O'Cat weighed in! So nice to hear that blast from the past. We look forward to your creating room for us when you retire!

I have gotten around to X yet, better add it to my list.
