Sheally (sheallyt) | 67 comments Ok so does the setting HAVE to be in the high school, or can the characters just be in high school?

Stephanie (shynotebooks) | 73 comments uhhh i think i know what difference you're talking about, but i think it just has to be a high school...set up.

so i picked Eleanor and Park for this even though most of the story isn't necessarily at the high school itself. but they spend time around their school (on the bus before and after school) and classes, assignments, and teachers are mentioned enough. so it's still a factor in the book if not the main focal point.

what were you considering?

Sheally (sheallyt) | 67 comments It's a book I had to read for the Arkansas Teen Book Award Committee called Glory O' Brien's History of the Future. It's about a high school aged girl, her mother committed suicide when she was very young and due to some weird circumstance she can see some people's past and future. There is a graduation and high school girl drama. Nothing really takes place at school.

i looked it up and, while i am not the ruler or all time voice on this, i would personally say no because she's already done with high school. i think the spirit of the category is that the main characters should be in a modern high school realm for most of the book.

I read Glory O'Briens and thought it was very inventive and interesting BUT she's graduates almost immediately in the book and it all takes place outside of school and during the summer after graduation so I personally wouldn't count it but it might count for another category (published in 2015, female author, would History of the Future count as an antonym in the title?, set in the future (maybe))

Great Question!

Sheally (sheallyt) | 67 comments Oh I didn't think of history and future as antonyms, thanks I like that! I already have a female author and 2015 publish. And the book was just ok for me, to many plot lines. It's a possible candidate for my states teen book list, I don't think it will make the cut. To many other really good books.
