Group of Unfortunate Events discussion

Hey, did everyone hear about the new Netflix series? They are going to adapt A Series of Unfortunate Events! I can't wait, I haven't seen many netflix original series, except for Orange is the New Black, but I love that one, so I have high expectations!

It's also a good motivator for me to finally read the last two books (I borrowed the series from my library and since the last two weren't translated in my language, they didn't stock them )

i cant wait. its one of my fav series (which i read once a year) and we live in the golden age of television
i heard its going to be about 4 or 5 seasons, that way they can do about 2-3 books worth of material each season.

I was interested in the number of seasons, too. I was wondering if they were going for a season-a-book kinda thing (which would be difficult, because that's a lot of seasons, and also I don't really think each individual book could really hold a season), or multiple books-a-season, which seemed difficult to me, since every book is such a self-contained story, especially the first ones.
I'm curious to see how they'll work around that.

But either way, at least they'll have plenty of time to dedicate to the story. That was probably the biggest problem with the movie in my opinion. Just too much story to squeeze in too little time.

and every book of the series happens within days and weeks of each other so technically the could just mesh the stories together without a need to end each story and reintroduce the plot every season

I'm still wondering how they would end the story arcs of each individual book, though. Since they each so clearly built up to a climax, which would be perfect for the finale of a season, but not right in the middle.

I also hope that every season will have thirteen episodes, like the thirteen chapters of each book! That would be fun.
