Challenge: 50 Books discussion

Got close last year. So here we go again.

. 1. Yesterday's Gone, season 3

Went to Orlando and saw The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios so I just had to read Harry Potter again.

. 2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Huge Odd Thomas fan. This was a great novella. Can't wait for the next book in May.

. 3. Odd Interlude

Not as good as Hugo Cabret, but still excellent.

. 4. Wonderstruck

Interesting premise. Actually a pretty good YA book. It's been translated from German and the translation is well done.

5. Erebos

An excellent YA title. It says that it's book #1 in a series, though there is no cliffhanger at the end. Could easily be read as a stand alone book.

6. Fracture

Very interesting. One man's mid-life crisis resolved by volunteering around the world.

7. The Voluntourist

I really enjoyed this book. You can't help but root for the Old Man.

8. The Old Man and the Wasteland

9. Gone Girl

Interesting premise. Liked it enough that I will read the sequel

10. What's Left of Me

Loved this one.

13. The Twelve (sequel to The Passage) Looking forward to Book 3

14. Insurgent (sequel to Divergent)

15. Deeply Odd by Dean Koontz

Eagerly awaiting the next (and maybe final?) Odd Thomas book

16. The Shepherd's Tale

A must-read graphic novel for any Firefly fans

17. Breathe

Not a bad YA title. Although not promoted as a series, the ending lends itself to a sequel. I liked it well enough to continue should the author write one.

18. The Deceived (#2 in the Jonathan Quinn series)

19. Flip - a great YA title. Really enjoyed it.

20. The Good Braider - I LOVED this book!

21. The Maze Runner. This has been on my "to read" list for a long time. Glad I finally got around to it. Now for book 2 in this series.

22. Shadow of Betrayal (#3 in the Jonathan Quinn series) This is an excellent series!

23. The Scorch Trials

24. The Death Cure. I really liked the first book in this series, but was disappointed in the series as a whole.

25. The Silenced (#4 of the Jonathan Quinn series)

26. The Holy Man by Susan Trott. I read this once a year or so. I don't really like "inspirational" fiction, but I picked this up at the library about 10 years ago and it caused me to think about, and change, my attitude toward my life. One of the few books I actually own.

27. Yesterday's Gone: Season Four. Starting to get a little confusing, but I will stick with this series to the end because I really like the characters. The authors are going to wrap things up in 2 additional seasons. Good plan.

28. Ender's Game. I'll admit that I read it because of the ads for the movie, but it was good. I read it all in one day.

29. Allegiant (Book 3, Divergent series) I've seen that some peole were mad at the ending in this book. For me, knowing the characters, I was not surprised at what happened with Tris, or Four. People had the same reaction to the ending of the Hunger Games trilogy. So my thought on their reeactions is...come on, people, you are reading a book about a dystopian society, do you really think everything is going to be hunky dory at the end. War ends badly for everyone, even the heroes. If you want a happy ending read romance novels.

30. The Emerald Storm

31. Pure (1st book in a trilogy). Even though most of the main characters are teenagers, this is not considered a YA title. Enjoyed it so much I went right to the library to get their only copy of book 2, Fuse, even though it is in large print.

Well, I made it more than halfway this time. Selling my house and moving halfway through the year kind of put a monkey wrench in the plan. Oh well, on to 2014.
