Have any pressing questions you want to ask Lilo? She’s got answers!

I'll start out: Lilo, how was it writing this book in comparison to The Light Who Shines? Did you find it easier? Harder? More fun?

I found it more difficult in some ways and easier in others. The Light Who Shines was a blank slate, so I didn't have to worry about making sure the stories synced. But The Light Who Shines was also my first story ever, ever, ever. :) So I had to learn how to write a book!

Shauna (brashcandicoot) Well, I'd say you did a pretty incredible job for a first-time author. You figured out the whole writing thing pretty quickly!

Michele (chelessfamily) | 11 comments I just really admire authors. I can't get words from my head to paper to write fiction. Give me a business letter and the words fly, lol!

Well, probably because I've always been a heavy reader. I usually read a book a day when I'm not writing.

Shauna (brashcandicoot) SIDE NOTE: While we're here, I'd like to remind everyone to follow Lilo's author profile if you aren't already.

Funny you say that Michelle. I did have a role in business communications for a few years. So I learned a lot from that as well.

Elaine (lainythebookdragon) | 2 comments after writing 2 fantastic books do you have any advice to would be author's and how long till book 3?

message 9: by Leanne (new)

Leanne Cleave | 12 comments Michele I am exactly the same. A teacher once told me I should write stories but I can never put it down on paper. I just cant find the right words.

Same here but at the moment it's more like 2 books a day since I got fired but I'm starting to find it hard to find new books to read.

Elaine wrote: "after writing 2 fantastic books do you have any advice to would be author's and how long till book 3?" I hope book 3 will be faster. After publishing book one I had to learn how to market. But now I think I've got that down. Or at least a good base. I think The Light Who Burns will take about a year.

Shauna (brashcandicoot) Oral storytellers are important, too! Sometimes people who struggle with writing fiction are some of the best storytellers around a campfire or when they're putting their kids to bed.

For a would be author, I'd say that the best thing to do is just decide to do it. Just say, "I am now going to write a book." Then do it. That is the biggest step you need to make. Sit down and write an outline.

Nicole (nicib) | 12 comments I think as well you did a really great job with your first book. It is not often that I rte books with 5 stars (and I do read quite a lot lately) - and yours made it into my 5 stars...

How do you do it all, writing, reading and still working a full-time job?

message 15: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Holdsworth | 17 comments I was wondering Lilo how did you come up with the story originally was it something you had been wanting to write down for a while or did the story come about bit by bit?

Shauna (brashcandicoot) After Lilo answers Nicole & Samantha's questions (great ones, by the way!) let's head on over to the next game.

Nicole, I'm exhausted, truth be told. I can't read while I write, for one. But I need to take breaks from writing to get a fresh mind / perspective. That is when I'll dive in for a new book or a series. It is funny, sometimes I find myself selecting books that I know I'll like, but I won't like too much, so I don't get sucked in and distracted from writing. :)
