Favorite Heroes--And Why discussion

Anita Blake from Laurel K. Hamilton's Vampire Hunter series.

The first few books were really good. They had action and depth and a promising start to 'dark fantasy'. I was very happy. Then... it turned into porn. The story became lost in the details of the sex scenes and I lost interest. Anita Blake had so much potential, too :(

Now, I'm quite happy with an intimate scene here or there. I think that they add another element to the overall story and can be done in such a way to really be complementary. However, I don't want it to entirely take over the story. I guess that's why I focus on Fantasty, etc. over Romance.

Dexter from the TV series. I actually did not like when he became emotional, it seemed out of the character to me, something done to maintain the ratings.
I read only the first book though, and it was muchly different then the series, so perhaps I should find and read the rest of the books.

Katniss Everdeen in "Mockingjay" (the last book of the Hunger Games trilogy) was a huge letdown to me. She just wasn't the national hero of Panem the first two books had led me to believe in.

I was forgiving Whip and his drinking when he went to his old home and cleared it of the all the alcohol even his hidden stashes. That was so great I thought. He was going to clean up his act looking like he was feeling remorse. Then he kept letting me down repeatedly helping out the ex-heroin addict bringing along a couple of Budweiser's. I totally lost faith in him thinking "What a looser he was after not drinking for eight days then relapsing badly." In the hearing they would have let him walk if he wanted to keep lying. It was the very end where he became the hero.

I liked the interaction of Indiana Jones with Marion in the 1st movie. Alas, I found "The Temple of Doom" Indie movie to have a terrible female lead, so his relationship with her along with some other unfortunate plot choices diminished him as a hero for me. Happily, the next movie returned Indiana to his former hero status.
