1. How are you doing on your goal?
I'm 5 books behind at the moment - need to get my read on
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
My favourite of the quarter would be The Falcons of Fire and Ice by Karen Maitland who is a great author in my view
But my favourite book of the year so far (and Q1) is The Summer Queen by Elizabeth Chadwick
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg I think the author was trying to be reminiscent of The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared which I really enjoyed unfortunately this book fell well short in my opinion.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
The King's Curse by Philippa Gregory and The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss which is the follow on book of my second favourite Q1 read The Name of the Wind

1. How are you doing on your goal?
So far I've read 90 books out of 115. I've been really lucky because challenges and random library finds have lead to some really wonderful books I might not have picked up otherwise.
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
I'm definitely going to go with the latter and pick a few lol. Starting with the most recent, I've loved The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway (primarily because of personal sentiment- I got the chance to read one of my dad's favorite books and it reminded me of him so much), Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe (I love Achebe's subtlety and nuance), our group read for The Goldfinch by Donna Tarttwas awesome and the book was so interesting, both The War of the Worlds and The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells, Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut (which I'm very glad I ended up picking up again after giving it up back in HS), and Middlemarch by George Eliot was an absolute favorite.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Hmmm, I think I'd go with The Paying Guests and/or A Dark-Brown Dog and Other Stories. The Paying Guests was just very very boring to me while A Dark-Brown Dog was heartbreaking and the other stories in the collection seemed off to me. Maybe they just couldn't catch my attention because of the main story, I'm not sure.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
I have no idea but I'm certainly hoping it's as successful as this last quarter. I think it will be. I have a lot of books on my Listopia Challenge left and they all seem marvelous.

I've kinda destroyed my goal actually, I'm something like 100 books ahead already or something? (Some of those are short stories or really short tho, though some of them are also really long) And even if you take pages into account instead of books I'd say I'm way way ahead of any goal I could ever have imagined setting myself.
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Probably still Station Eleven, though just to name a few more I was super happy to read The Goldfinch, Ulysses, Assassin's Quest, Stoner, The Little Prince, the first three volumes of The Sandman, and The Lowland.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Probably The Will of the Empress (though now I'm not actually sure if it wasn't better than Melting Stones and Battle Magic) for being tedious, ultimately barely fulfilling and kind of pointless actually, and full of characters who, if they weren't just too darn flat to care about, continually being hostle to each other for reasons that I still don't understand. Quite the disappointment honestly.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
No idea! As always, I'm just going to go wherever the flow takes me really. :)

I've kinda destroyed my goal actually, I'm something like 100 books ahead already or something? (Some of those are short stories or really short tho, though some..."
This is so great. :) Congrats on meeting your goal!

It looks like you're doing great as well. Well done! :)

I'm 31 of 50 so far, so I'm doing well on my goal- I'm trying to get a lot in this summer before classes start again in August.
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
My favorites from this quarter were The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes, A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, and Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. All of these books were easily 5 stars for me.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
I had a lot of books that were so-so for me this quarter, but the ones I just could not get into/enjoy were The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and The Promise of Stardust by Priscille Sibley. Hitchhiker's Guide was too confusing for me to understand, but I'm glad I can say that I've at least attempted it. Stardust was just not what I was expecting, and in the beginning it felt like there was too much going on. Some plot lines also felt incomplete, which made the novel seem lack luster.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
I've been reading a lot of WWII novels lately, so anything that gets away from that era! One Summer: America, 1927 by Bill Bryson and Rocks Off: 50 Tracks That Tell the Story of the Rolling Stones by Bill Janovitz have both been on my list for a while, so hopefully I can get to at least one of those this quarter.

I'm five books ahead and feeling pretty great!
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
My favorite was The Dovekeepers, but City of Stairs was a close second. They're very different books, but both were beautifully written.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Carry On, Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed. Throughout the (nonfiction) book, all I could think was "I'd never be friends with this person." And when you couple that with a writing style that didn't suit my tastes, I couldn't enjoy this book.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
Armada by Ernest Cline. Hands down. (Ready Player One is one of my all-time favorites.)

I've kinda destroyed my goal actually, I'm something like 100 books ahead already or something?"
Paul, this is so, so wonderful! Congratulations!

Way ahead! I've read 50 books on a goal of 70. Hopefully I can keep on track. :)
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Definitely The Martian by Andy Weir. One of my favourite books in a long time.
It really put me into a mood for good science fiction lately too and I've also read and enjoyed Ready Player One, Seveneves, The Fold, Lock In, and Snow Crash this year.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
"A Confederacy of Dunces" was a classic that wound up being painfully dull and just not funny at all. It tried to be clever but completely failed on every level for me.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
I've got "A Little Life" by Hanya Yanagihara on hold at the library and I'm really looking forward to digging into that one. As for books coming out in the second half of 2015: "Armada" by Ernest Cline and "Winter" by Marissa Meyer.

this year I set my goal for 60 books. I used to be a couple of books behind but i had a reading splurge, and now I am at 33 books (3 books ahead of schedule).
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
At the start of the year I finished reading Catching Fire and Mockingjay in the Hunger Games trilogy.
White Fang, Marley and Me: Life and Love With the World's Worst Dog, The Nightingale were all 5 star ratings for me too.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
All the books i have read this year are all rated 3 stars and up, but I would say I was a bit disappointed in the last book I read - Gorillas in the Mist by Dian Fossey. i found the chronological order, the timeline, to be all over the place and thus stories were repeated multiple times. It was a bit annoying, but I still enjoyed it. A rating of 3.5 stars for me, the .5 because of the subject matter, my favorite subject - animals!
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I will also be catching up on reading some Torey Hayden books this quarter. I'm looking forward to those too.

By July 2, I was at 16 out of 100 books, which according to the challenge widget is 34 books behind schedule... I didn't do much reading during Q1 and most of Q2, just started to catch up during June. But I finally made some time for reading daily so I'm hopeful to catch up eventually!
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Without hesitation, the best one was The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I've meant to read this series for a long time and finally started - and wasn't disappointed. I love this kind of fantasy literature, and this book had it all, just as I hoped - characters that I liked, an interesting system of magic, and an intriguing story.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Technically I finished reading it on July 1, but I still read most of it during Q2 and there's no other book I read that would qualify as a "least favorite book". Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. I must say, I don't think I have ever read a book I disliked more! I usually don't give 1 star ratings, but this time I did so without thinking... The language was so bad, the main characters just made me want to punch them in the face because of their personalities, and all arguments and situations were solved by having (repititive) sex - and the situations still weren't really solved (of course). I read it just to see what all the fuss was about, but I won't ever read the rest of the series.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
There are quite a few, actually! I want to continue reading the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson (The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages) and I also decided to finally read the Divergent series by Veronica Roth (Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant). Also, it's time to continue reading A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin that I started so long ago...

Thank you! I'm hoping I can keep it up. :)

1. How are you doing on your goal?
Great! I am much further along than I expected to be at this point. I am currently ten books ahead of schedule and have only 16 books to reach my goal of 52 books for the year. I have, or am, participating in 26 challenges so far. I have completed 13 of them and the two that I did not complete on time, I did finish. I have considered upping my goal for the year and for some challenges but, as it is my first year, I may just keep track of my numbers and use them to figure out my goals for next year.
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
I have read lots of good stuff this year but I would have to say my favorites have been My Sister's Keeperwhich succeeded in surprising me; Pebble in the Skywhich is just good, clean, good Asimov; and The Giver - even though I wish the ending didn’t simply lead to the next book. I also greatly enjoyed Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration - a nonfiction book that provides a wonderful perspective of the growth of Pixar.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
I was very disappointed in Twain’s The Innocents Abroad. It was his first book. It was non-fiction. And it was very repetitive and boring and I had a hard time getting through it. There were some golden moments where his wonderful wit showed through but I think I will stick to his fiction going forward.
Atlas Shrugged was a close second as it could have been a quarter of the length and been just as effective. It did have a good storyline and characters that I liked but she broke the cardinal rule of telling instead of showing so there are a lot of speeches, lectures, grandstanding, etc.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
The rest of The Giver series, the next Temeraire book, Blood of Tyrants, The Complete Calvin and Hobbes!, and hopefully finishing the Eye of the World series and starting the Game of Thrones series! And much, much more!

14/24 books read, so I have 10 more to go.
I love that this group has not only encouraged me to read more, but also helped me find new friends with similar and differing tastes so there's always so much to learn and discuss!
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King - blew my mind...and it WASN'T horror.
Pride & Prejudice, Persuasion - actually I just can't decide among Jane Austen's books. Looking forward to devouring more.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
The Beasts in the Void. - I just felt it had so much potential and was disappointed the way the story turned out and how short it was.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
The Martian by Andy Weir. I was hoping this could be my buddy read but we picked something else, so maybe next month :)

As of this moment, I am 19 books ahead of schedule. This is actually a good thing, because my reading is slowing down because of work and I also have some long books on my shelf that I'd like to tackle.
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
I've read a lot of books that have really impressed me, but I think The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Still Alice are my picks for non-fiction and fiction respectively.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Without question, The Secret History of Wonder Woman. The book was a biography of Wonder Woman's creator and his friends, which was interesting and somewhat relevant (but only to a point) but should have included much more about Wonder Woman's beginning, the reception of the early comics, and how Wonder Woman has changed as new artists and authors have taken on the character.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
This is a tough one. I'm really glad to be reading Americanah, which has been on my list for a long time. I also can't wait to read some new books like The Nightingale since I don't usually read books that are brand new. Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard was recommended to me by my boss and I'm also excited to read that.

Pretty well - I'm 28 books ahead at the moment (though that count includes graphic novels and some short novellas).
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Oh, wow. There's been a LOT of great reads. Seveneves was everything I hoped it would be, and Return of the Black Death: The World's Greatest Serial Killer was a spectacularly readable bit of non-fiction.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Nothing really bad - As usual, I'm not a huge fan of very purple prose plus very little plot, so Dreams of Shreds and Tatters wasn't a big hit.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
There are SO MANY. Ernest Cline and China Miéville have new releases very soon, then the finally-translated Cixin Liu one, and later on there's more Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire, and I've allowed myself to be swept up in a lot of hype over The Traitor Baru Cormorant. (And the new Laundry files book, The Annihilation Score, which is actually out already, but my kindle edition won't release until... tuesday, for some bizarre geographical reason. Very excited for it, though!)

I am doing ok but not as good as I expected.... Hope I can improve in my challenges in the next six months.... Had to leave a challenge because it was not the right type of challenge for me... Still feel quite bad for letting it go
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Difficult question.... Had a few that I like it very much, but I most say that for my surprise my favorite one has been The Buried Giant it has many bad reviews, but for me was amazing, I think is a misunderstood book, that is pretty bad
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
I will sayThis Is How You Lose Her. Was expecting more from Junot Díaz after reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao... That was an amazing book...But this one was full of characters that I did not manage to sympathize and the stories finally made me felt it did not lead to any place. There was none character I wanted or admire during the book and was very happy letting it go...
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
I can't say there is a single book I am looking forward, just that I want to clean my to read shelves (at least the oldest ones.... More looking forward to finish my challenge..... Each book with reveal itself after each turn of page

1. How are you doing on your goal?
I'm 5 books behind at the moment - need to get my read on
2. What was your fav..."
I'm half way through The Wise Man's fears I love it much more then the first let me know what you think

1. I am at my goal right now. I had to slow down last month, and probably the next couple months because I am doing an intensive summer school program with one of my children. My daughter is skipping 3rd grade! But we are reading lots of books together to get her ready for 4th.
2. My favorite book of the last quarter was To Kill a Mockingbird because it's my favorite book of all time, and I reread it...again.
3. My least favorite was Esio Trot. Seriously, this book was very disappointing for a Roald Dahl story.
4. The book I'm most looking forward to reading the next quarter is...all of them! So far this has been the best year of books for me, and the two I'm reading now are just as fantastic as the ones before.

Great, I am on 58/60 so I have to update it.
It was a lot of novellas and graphic novels this year
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
The Warded Man - good vs. evil,The Diviners - detective books set in the 1920's,His Majesty's Dragon- dragons that can talk and about the Napolian wars
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
The Moon Dwellers - A dystopian. I didn't connect with the characters at all.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
ArmadabyErnest Cline and WinterbyMarissa Meyer

46/52! That puts me 20 books ahead of my goal. I'm should hit 52 over the next quarter, and then will increase the goal a little to 75, if I do. I'm prone to slumps, so I'm a bit cautious at the moment, given I just got out of one, having read only 3 books over June when I'd read 13 the month before! This is the most I've read in a year since I was a teenager, though, or at least since I started my account on Goodreads, so that's pretty good. Now if I only I still could fit in all the books I wanted to read into this year...
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
I will have to go with a few! I read The Bell Jar, and it blew me away, becoming one of my favourite books full stop. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian surprised the heck out of me with its fresh and full-on humour. It was also successfully bleak and heart-warming and all that good stuff too. White is for Witching was a bit of a surprise too. Echopraxia was the sequel to Blindsight, my favouriter book from Q1, and very different, but still brilliant. The Three-Body Problem was exactly as good as the hype made it out to be.
A really good reading quarter, basically!
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
The Magicians. I'm pretty sure I could write pages on why I didn't like it, but to sum up? Rambling, badly structured, subtle sexism, endless summarising, a main character who is terrible and unsympathetic, but also has no arc (I don't mind unsympathetic narrators, but not ones this intolerable). The only characters I liked ended up dying or becoming awful, it felt very self-insert-y, and unnecessarily "edgy".
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, which I'm group reading for the next two months. The Sparrow. The Traitor. The Dark Forest. The Grace of Kings. Go Set a Watchman. A Little Life. I hope I can get to them all during the next quarter :)

I am not doing very well on my goal. I have had to stop the reading challenge for this group because I only have time for one reading challenge group. I am having to give up this reading challenge group at this time.
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
The Romanov Sisters: The Lost Lives of the Daughters of Nicholas and Alexandra was one of my favorite books that read. It was sad and interesting.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter
and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
The Book of Strange New Things was my least favorite book.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
At the moment, I am currently involved with another reading challenge group. I do not have any more time for any more reading groups.

Great! I'm on track :)
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?

3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)

4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
I'm not really one to plan my reading, so I'm just excited about what's coming.

2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can..." " Left Neglected"

3. Least favorite book of the Quarter? "The Haunted Bookshop"

4. Hmm...Im not sure yet

I added the "Hundred year old Man..." to my reading list. It sounds intriquing. Thanks

Right now I have read 15 books out of my 25 book challenge, so I am more than half way there!
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
I think I would have to say "That Night" by Chevy Stevens as well as "Reconstructing Amelia" by Kimberly McCreight. Oh and "The Art of Racing in The Rain" by Garth Stein was absolutely beautiful.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
I think my least favorite book so far was "The Silent Wife" by A.S.A. Harrison. It just left a lot of things open ended which I didn't enjoy and I also didn't think it was necessary. I also strongly disliked the narrator and pretty much every character in the book.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
I am excited to read the memoir "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed and "Those Girls" by Chevy Stevens because I have enjoyed most of her books.

Sorry you probably don't see me on much with work and study it can be difficult. However I'm still chipping away at my 50 book goal and aim to complete my bingo and A-Z challenge (A-Z is going alot better than bingo haha)
1. How are you doing on your goal? so i am at 26 so am on track :) a-z is going really well
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Red Queen was very much my favourite it reminded me alot of hunger games but was very impressed and can't wait to the next book in the series comes out.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Probably American Psycho
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
Disunity
A Thousand Pieces of You
Glass Sword

I'm blowing it out of the water! I set a modest goal based on my previous Reading Challenges. However, I got a new job at the beginning of the year which has provided me a lot more time for reading. I have read 80 books out of my original goal of 40. I'm shooting for 100 now.
2. What was your favorite book of the quarter (pick a few if you can't narrow it down to just one!)?
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell was the unexpected winner! I also really enjoyed reading The Lunar Chronicles Books: Cinder, Scarlet, Cress and Fairest by Marissa Meyer. Now I just need to be patient until the last book in that series comes out in Winter.
3. What was your least favorite book of the quarter and why? (Please make sure to avoid or mark spoilers.)
Certainly The Heir of Olympus and the Forest Realm by Zachary Howe. It has a great concept but poor everything. Poor character development, poor grammar, poor pacing... It was just a huge letdown.
4. What book are you MOST looking forward to reading in the third quarter?
That one is hard. One of my good friends and I are going to read The Looking Glass Wars, so I'm excited for that conversation. As far as pure reading enjoyment is concerned, Ready Player One is the top, though. I can't wait.
