I intend to read Matched by Ally Condie. I've heard great things about the Matched series, but I keep putting off reading them becuase it is not a book I would typically read. This is what I love about these type of reading challenges ... Reading outside of my comfort zones. Now seems like a perfect time to dive into it.

I am hoping to start the book later this week.

Maple (maplerie) | 307 comments I finished this book a few days ago. I don't know. I really wanted to like it, and it wasn't a bad book, but it was incredibly boring. The book is very well written and has beautiful prose. What I found disappointing about this was how similar this was to The Giver. The way their society in Matched functioned was almost identical to the society in The Giver. I found the love story in this book to be very unrealistic and poorly developed. There was no real draw to either of the guys, and most everyone in the book seemed to be pretty robotic.

2 stars.

I really did not like this book, but I oddly find myself wanting to finish off this series.

Katie (ktmac_1) For a dystopian society the books are slow moving, but I did enjoy reading the whole trilogy. For me the love triangle takes a back seat to Cassia's pursuit of finding independence and who she wants to be, not who society tells her to be. That is what drives the second book and even more the third. If you decide to keep reading, let me know what you think.

Heather Godwin (hpgodwin) | 84 comments I liked the plot/over all world created here. It had a good start to be something really interesting but over all I just didn't find myself enjoying the story. I agree that the love triangle doesn't seem very important in the story, it's more about discovering the poetry of what free will/independence could look like for her and society (exactly what katie said basically). I did finish the series and overall I rate it 'ok read but probably won't re=read'.

Katie (ktmac_1) She has a new book out Atlantia, that I want to try.
