Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 319 comments I have noticed that less people are posting these last few days. It made me wonder if that is because the beautiful weather has finally arrived so most of us are out enjoying it instead of reading.

1. What time of year do you read the most? Why?
2. What activities interfere with your reading time?
3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?

Brittany (booksandbottles) (gamerkiti) I've noticed this quite a bit too Anastasia. Although I'm one of the guilty parties this past weekend haha. Usually I'm on here Monday-Friday all day and seldom on Saturday and Sunday.

1. What time of year do you read the most? Why? Honestly this is the most I've read in about 2-3 years. So I don't really have an answer
2. What activities interfere with your reading time?Catching up on my tv shows on the weekend (I don't have cable so I have to use hulu/amazon prime). Also I'm an avid gamer so Call of Duty Advanced Warfare gets a lot of my time in the evening
3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule? I read on break at work, any time my roommate has a doctors appointment, and basically any time I get a chance. I usually always have a book on my person i.e. phone/purse.

Awesome post! :)

1. What time of year do you read the most? Why? I don't know that there's a set time of year. Since I'm a student it's more just breaks from school or when there's a lighter load assignment-wise. But now I may be in trouble since I was planning on getting so much reading time in over summer but I'm falling victim to the nice weather...
2. What activities interfere with your reading time? I'm definitely a big TV person so Netflix can definitely get in the way. I like to binge watch series and am on Pretty Little Liars right now. I also really like hiking so that's been a "problem" since the nice weather started.
3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule? Luckily I have a job where I can usually get away with reading at the same time so that's a big one for me. Boston is also huge on public transportation so I can usually get in quite a bit during my commute.

Aline (thousanduniverses) | 53 comments 1. What time of the year do you read the most? Why?

I might read more either in the summer or in the cosier months. In the summer because I love to lay down in the sun with a book and since the weather is awesome right now I get to do that quite a lot :) And in the darker months I like to snuggle up inside the house, preferably in front of the woodstove with a tea.

2. What activities interfere with your reading time?
I'm still a trainee so I have to learn sometimes more or less. I love to watch my favorite TV shows and to watch YouTube videos and sometimes I get caught up on the internet :D Also I regularly do sports.

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?
In the busier weeks I try to go one or half an hour earlier to bed so I can get a bit reading done, otherwise I always read on the train (which I'm on nearly every weekend, Friday+Sunday)

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) 1. What time of the year do you read the most? Why? It's just right around the corner, summer vacations! Just three more exams left to have freedom to read something else besides college books. It's the best time for me because I usually don't have anything to do during summer.

2. What activities interfere with your reading time? Does college count? As many of you, I also watch a lot of TV shows though lately I've losing interest in some shows (what the hell, True Detective? I sense a Twin Peaks vibe but that's not enough to keep me going!). And reading article on the internet, I waste waaaay too much time doing that.

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule? Reading at night, during weekends and when taking breaks from studying/classes.

1. What time of year do you read the most? Why?
I used to read mostly on holidays because I hadn't enough time the rest of the year. Now, I've no work to do at home, so I've more time to read. I read the most on weekends.

2. What activities interfere with your reading time?
Working, sleeping, Internet, watching tv shows, doing dishes, walking the cats, spending time with friends/family. In this order.

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?
I try to read before going to bed and I start my weekends with a book. When I go outside, I bring some ebooks so I can read them if I want.

Adriana, I definitely feel your pain with the college books. I'm three papers away from being done for the summer. Woohoo!

I also watch watch True Detective and am hanging on by a thread. Haha. I really loved season 1 but I'm not really sure where they're going with this one. I push myself to analyze the show (a lot of people are discussing the commentary surrounding gender) but it has just been so uneventful. Then of course there was the cheap cliffhanger that got me excited, only to have it be one of those "Just kidding!" moments. But I'm sure I'll stick it out in hopes of it picking up.

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) It's so good to be in the finish line!

The first season was sooo good. In this one, I can't even stand the sight of that main character, the guy with moustache, whose name I don't even know. Well, now that I think about, I don't know the names of anyone. I haven't watched the last episode yet, so I'll either stop at that or the next if it doesn't improve.

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 319 comments What time of year do you read the most?
I have never really thought about when I read. After signing up to goodreads I started keeping track of my reading habits. I am tempted to say that I read more in the summer.
Why?
My children are no longer in after school activites, which means less driving everywhere.

What activities interfere with your reading time?
Currently it is hiking, biking, and gardening. During the other seasons it is running kids to activities. I also watch way too much Netflix.

How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?
I carry a book with my everywhere, so when I have 5 minutes I read. I have also added audio books to my repertoire, it has added about 1 to 2 hours of reading time to my day.

Louise | 22 comments I am one of those who live in the southern hemisphere, where 'beautiful' is not how I would describe what it is like outside. Heavy sleety rain is no-one's idea of beautiful.

That said, to answer your questions:

1. What time of year do you read the most? Why? All year round. That is how I read 300-400 books a year. There is no time when I am not reading.

2. What activities interfere with your reading time? Work. That's pretty much it.

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule Who said I had a busy schedule? I have work, followed by reading. It's easy.

Francesca | 391 comments 1. What time of year do you read the most? Why? I actually read more during the summer because I sit outside in the sun and read. I read in the other seasons too but when it's colder and I'm indoors I find it easier to get distracted by the TV or movies or my laptop. Plus, Autumn/Winter is when most of the shows I watch are on so I tend to get caught up with those a little bit.

2. What activities interfere with your reading time? Watching TV shows, movies, work, and spending time with friends and family.

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule? Somehow I've managed to get my travel sickness under control so that I can now read on my bus journey's to and from work and still feel fine (I still can't read in cars without feeling sick though, I guess buses are more airy?). I also try to put aside time to read in the evenings or in the mornings if I know my day or my evening is going to be busy.

message 12: by Jodez (new)

Jodez (jodez4) | 16 comments 1. What time of year do you read the most? Why? I read fairly evenly all year round, since I do most of my reading when I'm curled up in bed.

2. What activities interfere with your reading time? My kids are probably the biggest interference, followed by housework, uni, gaming and sleep.

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule? Aside from reading in bed, I read whenever I'm waiting at the doctors or for various other appointments. It's for this reason I love the various reading phone apps, I never get caught without a book.

message 13: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments 1. What time of year do you read the most? Why? I don't really have a particular time of year that's more read-worthy than any other. Winter is lovely, because snuggling up under the covers with a book! Summer is lovely, because lying under a tree in the shade with a book! Spring & Autumn are lovely because ... books!
2. What activities interfere with your reading time?I'm a Mum to an almost six year old daughter, and I also have my own photography business, so they are my two top priorities. I also live in a foreign country (Switzerland), so we spend a lot of afternoons out seeing friends as we need to invest time in our social lives in order to build & maintain a good base of friendships (since we don't have the long term friendships/family relationships that we'd have back in Australia). My business is crazy busy at the moment, so my reading has suffered somewhat!
3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?Sometimes I wonder this myself! I generally carry my Kindle with me everywhere, so I'll always have a range of books with me that I can dip into any time. And I am happy to read even for a minute or two at a time, so I read everywhere ... and I mean everywhere.

message 14: by Jean (new)

Jean Cole (joc724) | 115 comments 1. What time of year do you read the most? Why? No particular time of year. In the summer there's always pool or beach reading and in the winter there's a good excuse to settle in with a good book and a cup of tea!
2. What activities interfere with your reading time? It used to be taking care of the kids but now that they're grown and gone -- housework.
3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule? I've just decided that when my husband is watching TV I can either read in the same room as the TV or move to another room. I like to get about 50 pages read per day of whatever book I'm reading. This can easily turn out to be 75 or 100 -- even better!

message 15: by Erica (new)

Erica | 214 comments 1. What time of year do you read the most? Why?
I'm a teacher, so I read the most during school holidays (summer and Chinese New Year since I'm in China).
2. What activities interfere with your reading time?
Work (even when I'm not working, I'm ALWAYS planning, prepping, etc), spending time with hubby and in about 5 weeks we'll be having a baby so I bet he or she will be a huge distraction :)
3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?
I read every night before bed, and I always carry a book with me.

message 16: by Marina (new)

Marina | 272 comments 1. What time of year do you read the most? Why?
I think I'm a pretty steady reader, so I read more or less throughout the whole year. But my reading probably peaks in the summer holiday and during the winter. I can easily swallow a book or ten (that's probably not even an expression you can use in English :) ) when lying by a pool or enjoying the sun out on our balcony. And in the winter when it's cold and dark outside it's nice to just snuggle up under a blanket with a cup a tea and a book.

2. What activities interfere with your reading time?
Work!!! Cleaning, cooking, doing laundry...

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?
I wouldn't consider my schedule that busy, so I can often find time to read. It's just me and my hubby now, but when we have kids I'm sure I won't have as much time to read as I do now.

message 17: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 319 comments Brittney, my books get in the way of my gaming habit. My children usually end up finishing my games before me. I am still working on one from 2 years ago. :)

message 18: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 319 comments Erica, I understand about prep time. I homeschool my children, so many of the books I read are for their school. So much work goes into a one hour class.

message 19: by Maple (new)

Maple (maplerie) | 307 comments 1. What time of year do you read the most? Why?
Honestly, I read all year round. I think I read more during the winter, especially since I've moved to Alaska. It's easier to sit inside on a cold snowy day than a warm sunny day (since we have so few of them - haha).

2. What activities interfere with your reading time?
I've found that reading seems to interferes with my other activities - Gaming, Crafting, Sewing, TV/Movies, Exercise, etc. The only thing that trumps reading for me are friends and family.

3. How do you fit reading into your busy schedule?
I read anywhere and everywhere, and at every chance I get. I don't typically have this problem. I've been forcing myself to take days off of reading so I can do other things. I force myself to go hiking by the promise of reading my current book on top of a mountain.
