A group of different poems is a very effective form of narrative for Matthew's story. I was especially moved by "Now Showing: Matthew's Story", a found poem using the titles of films that came out in 1998, the year of his death.

This book broke my heart. The passage about how the police found a doe laying nearby Matthew as if she was watching over him hit me very deeply. What a beautiful and valuable collection of poems.
This book took me back to when it happened. I have been verbally threatened about being gay but I have never been hurt. I loved how the author wrote from the perspective of all the different objects and people. It was amazing!
