2013 Hub Reading Challenge discussion

I just finished the second book in this series. I've read all of the Beka Cooper books (listened to them, actually) and it's fun to see the echoes of the prequels in these. I also keep hearing passages in the voice of Susan Deneker, who narrated the Beka Cooper series.

I like the sequels featuring Alanna's daughter Aly even more. I'd highly recommend them for post-challenge reads :)

Is that different from the Protector Of The Small series (First Test, Page, Squire, Knight)? Those are on the list. I just pulled the first one to put on my to-read pile.

Yes, that's a different series. It's actually about 10 years after the end of the last Alanna book.

I love Tamora Pierce books. The heroins always kick ass :)

Pierce has, I think, five related series set in Tortall and the surrounding kingdoms. I think the two Aly books are officially the "Daughter of the Lioness" series. The 5th series is called "The Immortals" and deals more with Tortallan mages.
