Lindsay (lindsay_sparkes) | 109 comments Book Club read 2/15 - 2/28/13
Feel free to jump in the conversation after these dates.

**We are going to try two books the next two weeks. Discussing both, but only reviewing one. Please join in both or one, whatever your pace allows. If you have read either of the books in the past, we would love for you to participate as well. So, we are going to read, discuss AND review One Week Girlfriend. We are also going to read and discuss The Sweet Gum Tree, but not review UNLESS there is abundant participation.**

This discussion is for One Week Girlfriend. I haven't read it yet. Starting tonight, so will hand over to Janna, who just finished. :D

Any questions?

Janna Bartolina (jannamash) | 59 comments I loved the plot if this book! And the steamy scenes....oh my!!! Did any of you predict what Adele had to say towards the end?

Sharon (sharonc624) | 5 comments I enjoyed the book! I like the way it was written and the interaction between Fable and Drew. I found it to be a good read! I did predict what Adele would say! I am looking forward to the next book!

Janna Bartolina (jannamash) | 59 comments I had no clue! The bomb Adele dropped was a huge surprise! Do any if you feel the ending was unnecessary? I'm confused as to why it ended like it did

Jessica Biggs (jessicabiggs) I loved this book!! I figured the plot out pretty quickly, but I liked how sensitive the deeper issues were treated. I feel like the cover is misleading, making it seem like a trivial book, when it was anything but. I can't wait for the next one to come out, this book was truly a nice surprise

Janna Bartolina (jannamash) | 59 comments The cover is very misleading, it looks like a cute little story, so does the title. But, truly there is so much more to the story!

Julielynn | 8 comments Didn't expect much from this book but it got better the further along I read. Really liked the relationship that develops between the two main characters, there is a depth and sweetness to the two of them. I understand the concern about the ending, but my favorite part of the book was the letter written at the end... M-A-R-S-H-M-A-L-L-O-W... Awww.

Anna Gomez | 8 comments I was pleasantly surprised at what I thought was a quick, light read. The plot is different and I really connected with the main characters. When is Book 2 coming out?

Dawnita | 2 comments I bought this because it was .99 and looked like a quick read. Boy was I in for a surprise. I was captivated by this story. I love an unexpected read like this that catches your attention and you can't put it down until you have read the very last word in the book. MARSHMALLOW!

Lindsay (lindsay_sparkes) | 109 comments I finally got it read!! Phew!!

I really enjoyed it! It was a fast, furious read. I wasn't expecting to like that their relationship developed so fast, but I was actually okay with it in the end.

Janna and Nina can tell you I was trying to guess the plot the whole book. "JUST READ IT LINDSAY!"

I did pick up on the Vanessa part of it when it revealed her age, because it was obvious what Adele did to Drew from the beginning.

While I did like the whole Marshmallow letter, I was also a little confused with the ending, I didn't like it. I would be okay with a cliffhanger, I just didn't care for that abrupt departure.

My guess is the next book will reveal and deal with problems on Fable's side as well as Drew dealing with the revelations and his past.

Thoughts:
1. Owen said when leaving at the end that Fable's mom wanted to talk to her, but nothing was revealed. There is still something there.
2. Fable thought that Owen was up to something while she was away with Drew. What could that be? Looking for his dad? Or bad stuff?
3. What happened to Drew's mom? Lung Cancer?
4. If they end up with a HEA, there is going to need to be some sort of realistic resolution for Fable's money problems, or more specifically money to take care of her brother. She isn't going to take money from him to care for Owen. So, I have thoughts on this, but I am probably wrong, so will hold in. :)

Lindsay (lindsay_sparkes) | 109 comments OH hey! It has a newish cover! You see that?

Lindsay (lindsay_sparkes) | 109 comments Oh yes, and they were HOT together. :) Great chemistry. Great.

Janna Bartolina (jannamash) | 59 comments The chemistry was awesome :) The ending was abrupt and VERY unexpected. I was very strict on no spoiler for this, I wanted to be blind going in. I think that really helped with my reading experience of this book

Lindsay (lindsay_sparkes) | 109 comments I love when I go into a book and know nothing about it.

Lindsay (lindsay_sparkes) | 109 comments What did you think of the beginning chapter? I felt like there were inconsistencies between it and the chapter where we get caught up to Drew's side of that "moment".

Janna Bartolina (jannamash) | 59 comments I agree. It's almost like she could have gone back and re written the first chapter....

Julielynn | 8 comments I didn't think that the first couple of chapters were a great start to this book. The character development was slow and I felt there needed to be a better reason for Drew picking Fable for this scheme - it almost seemed to be out of the blue.

Janna Bartolina (jannamash) | 59 comments Yes! I was confused at first because I thought she was an ex girlfriend. And I also thought that it was a little creepy he was outside the bar. She could have done it differently for sure. But once you get past that part, it's so good!!!

Lindsay (lindsay_sparkes) | 109 comments Agree!

Anna Gomez | 8 comments I'm taking this book at face value for what it is - a nice easy read with a pretty engaging plot. It started out slow but by the time it was done, the intensity of the damage done to Drew was real. I'm not sure how Book 2 will resolve any of his issues but I can already see that he will be taking a break to "fix himself". I can't wait to read the sequel
