30.3 Donna Jo's task: Upsy Daisy

Choose two of the following options and read a book for each one, for a total of two books.

1. Read a book with the words "up" AND "down" in the title and/or subtitle. No Series names. They may be part of a compound word, like upside or downtown, but not in words like Group. ex. Up the Down Staircase

2 Read a book with a picture of a Daisy on the cover. It may be a photo or a drawing, but it should look like a daisy
ex. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen The Pulse of Hopeful Life by Jeana Watters , Awaken (Awaken, #1) by Katie Kacvinsky , Once Was Lost by Sara Zarr , Petals on the Wind (Dollanganger, #2) by V.C. Andrews
Required: post picture of cover.

3. Many letters of the alphabet look similar (if not exactly matching) when turned upside down. Using upper and lower case and depending on font, I have matched the following pairs: AV, ae, bq, dp, jr, MW, NU, sz. I will allow only these pairs and the sideways match of HI. Choose a book by an author who has any of the matching letter pairs in their initials as their name appears on Goodreads. You may use the initials in either order--as AV or VA, for example. Ex. "pd" pair: Philip K. Dick

4. The Daisy or marguerite (bellis perennis) was commonly known as Mary's Rose. Read a book by an author with the name Daisy, Marguerite, Mary or Rose. The name can be first, middle, or last, but no variations- exact spellings please

Required: Please identify the options when you post

Bea For option 4 (BTW, the 4 is repeated in the task description.), would you allow ROSEnberg for author?

I would like to read another book in the Guardians of the Flame Series - The Silver Crown

Bea, thanks for pointing out the typo in the task. I'll get it fixed.

Sorry about your choice, though. It's just the straight name "Rose" I'm going for--no additions or variations. Can you use it for task 10.8 (with metal in title)?

Bea Donna Jo, I think I found one that will work:

Sacred Country by Rose Tremain

Deanna (whodunitrdr) | 190 comments Just as an FYI, Love in bloom (Kismet) by Karen Rose Smith by Karen Rose Smith would work for either option 2 (daisy on cover) or option 4 (rose in author name). I plan to use it for the cover as I have a couple of books by Rose Pressey in my TBR pile.

Kathy, I'm not sure if that's a daisy or a sunflower, but I'll accept it as a really big daisy.

Deanna, you are right on both counts. I had a hard time with the small GR picture because the flowers in the foreground looked like dandelions to me, but when I went to a larger picture I could tell they were daisies. Be sure to cite this post when you post.

Kathy G. | 1931 comments Thanks Donna Jo-
I thought it might be a daisy
because her other cover does have daisies
on it.

ETA: Actually, I found another book that'll work for option 3, but I guess my question still stands in case anyone else might want to use Poe.

Her first name does seem to be Mary, but I can never tell if they just squished the Janice too close for a middle name.

Christine, I'm going to say it won't work because it is smooshed together--sort of like JoAnn.

Bekka, yes that will work. Two authors is fine as long as one of them meets the criteria.
