15.6. Let's All Go to the Lobby
National Popcorn Lovers Day is March 14. Even if you can't get out to the movies, pop a big bowl of popcorn and read a book that has been made into a movie that has been released by the end of the spring challenge. These lists may help: The Book was Better Than the Movie, The Movie was Better than the Book, The Book and the Movie were Equally Good

Bekka (froydis) | 492 comments Sandy, for this task, may we also read a book that is going to be made into a movie? as long as we provide documentation to that fact from EW (http://www.ew.com/ew/ ) or IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/) or someplace like that?
thanks!

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments good question because I know the Great Gatsby is coming out this summer - I really want to see it!

Bekka (froydis) | 492 comments Yeah, there's a bunch of really good ones coming up! It seems like this is a popular thing with the movies right now.

is this the first time they've made a movie of great gatsby? That seems hard to imagine, somehow!

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments I dunno if its the first time - I was just sucked in by all the pretty lights in the preview for it

Deanna (whodunitrdr) | 190 comments Does this have to be a book made into a movie released in a theater or can it also include made for TV movies? Also, what about a movie length episode of a series. I am thinking of something like an Agatha Christie novel that was made into a movie length episode of the series, Agatha Christie's Poirot. For example, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100216/?... for The Mysterious Affair At Styles .

It has to be a movie, whether for theatrical release, for tv, or straight to video! Not a long episode of a series.

D.G. Good question, Deanna! Although in Agatha Christie's case, a lot of her books have been adapted to films too.

Check this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agatha_C... and scroll down to the section on 'Film Adaptations.'

Katrina (katmcv) | 455 comments Unfortunately I've just finished Beautiful Creatures so am looking to read The Silver Linings Playbook.

There's a few out at the cinemas/coming out by the end of spring that people might be interested in such as Warm Bodies, Safe Haven, The Host to name a few

Thank you. I found both a 1929 theater and a 1983 TV movie listed for another Christie book that I have on hand, The Secret Adversary .

There is a 1974 version starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. It is really good.

Small Island"

I am so sorry I didn't answer this sooner - I went out of town and it slipped my mind. Yes, a two parter will count as long as it was made as a movie (as opposed to part of a tv series).
