I have not read your book, but the way you describe it,
I would say since the animals play a big role in the book, this would qualitfy for our group. So, feel free to put up a discussion thread.
I would say since the animals play a big role in the book, this would qualitfy for our group. So, feel free to put up a discussion thread.
1) In the first story there is a Golden Retriever called Trillman. His role in this story is to teach his witch, DWW, magic because he is her familiar. In this story is the first appearance of a Jack Russell Terrier called Star. His role in this book is short and he isn't mentioned often but he plays a large role later in the series in
which he teaches a little about his breed through his personality and actions and also teaches about dogs in general. Also in this story, DWW, who is a protector witch with the job of protecting wolves and also has the ability to change into one naturally, trains her first magical wolf pups.
2) The second story is told from Trillman's point of view as he continues to teach DWW.
3) The third story introduces a chocolate Labrador Retriever called Max. In this story Max acts as a go between from DWW to her magic teacher. He helps DWW then reports her progress and problems throughout.
4) The fourth story is all about wolves, which is a favorite subject of mine. While it is about magical wolf pups and DWWs teaching them magic, she also teaches them how to hunt and fight like regular wolves. (If possible I was thinking if the whole book didn't qualify, maybe I could do something like post a thread for this specific story and give the individual story PDF to any interested group members? I think it would be interesting to maybe compare my wolves to real life ones.) This story actually has an excerpt here on
5) The fifth story is about a dragon and the witch that wants him to be her familiar. I count dragons as animals but I know some people don't because dragons aren't real. I'm not sure how this group feels about dragons and other mythological and nonexistent animals.
6) The last story isn't as focused on animals as the others but Max, the Lab, is in it and with DWW for the whole story. Also by the end there is a new animal, a white mouse, that plays a big role later in the series.
One other thing I should probably mention is that the Golden Retriever, and white mouse are humans that were turned into animals, which I am also not sure where this group stands on this subject and whether or not they would qualify as "true" animals even though Trillman will always be a Golden Retriever in every book in the series.
Because the animals play a huge role in the series I feel it qualifies as an animal book, but because you guys may not agree with me I thought I would ask you rather than put up a discussion thread then having to take it down if you felt it didn't belong in this group.
