Describe the setting (time, place, culture) of the story. Imagine the same story in a different setting. How would things be different?

message 2: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Brown | 18 comments The setting is on a farm in the old time around the 1600's. If the story was in our time today the people in the book would be living on the streets and half the people in the story would still be alive..

message 3: by Eliana Lechuga (new)

Eliana Lechuga | 20 comments The setting is in Florence in the 1600s. If the story was in a different setting it wont tie in with the plot because the store takes place during the time that art had a strong influence over the culture in Florence.

message 4: by Ginna Marciel (new)

Ginna Marciel | 24 comments Marked - P.C.Cast and Kristen Cast
This takes place during current day in a school called House of Night. Kind of like a dorm room at another school that has a wall to stop other people from entering the school grounds.
If this was in a different setting, I dont think it will be as good as it is with the whole dorm thing.

message 5: by Kenesha (new)

Kenesha (niecey) | 27 comments This takes place in small town in seattle. Some of the scenes takes place at the town zoo, which is where she met Sebastian and Bo. If the story were in a different setting it wouldn't really wouldn't change. Life if they were in a city it would probably be a little harder for Jade to see Sebastian over the zoo webcam, or been able to get a job at the zoo. Sebastian wouldn't be living in a boat house.

message 6: by Gina Lamm (new)

Gina Lamm | 27 comments The setting is in different planets, most likely a huge city and a lava planet. If the book was different then Anakin wouldn't have been burned alive and the young Jedi would have died somewhere else.

Tenzin Dickyi | 23 comments Betrayed by P.C. Cast
The book takes place in a small town called Tulsa which had the school that the main character attends, The house of night. It is placed in present time and the culture is like the one of a regular teen in the U.S., other then everybody knowing that vampires exist. The use of all the technologies are there but also belief in religion is significant. The belief in their goddess Nyx is the most important to them. I believe that if the setting or time were changed it would make a big difference in the the mood or action in the book. I wouldn't enjoy the book as much if it took place in the past times.

Tanisha Williams | 25 comments the stories setting was like the low income area and it was the present time as now, nothing was slow actually faster in northern states, and if it wasn't in this kind of area i think it would be the same but not as bad, but then anyone can go through these problems.

message 9: by Amanda Salas (new)

Amanda Salas | 17 comments the story takes place in an old fashion time kinda southern hospitality home, if i could change the setting i would make it more modern and urban living and probably take place in new york instead of lousiana.

message 10: by Christina (new)

Christina | 7 comments the setting takes place in the summer in the early 1960s. Its a boarding house where she helps her parents run it. I would make it where it takes place in 2009 and is basically updated to where people can relate to.

message 11: by Cindy Jaimes (new)

Cindy Jaimes | 4 comments Good Enough/ Paula Yoo

The setting is here in the United States and it's very recent and they are a Korean family. I think if the story was set in a different place, for example Korea, the main characters parents would be even more strict than they were.

message 12: by Justin (new)

Justin | 1 comments The setting of the story is a fantasy, type story, based in the 80's and 90's, and i think that if it was modern day, then it wouldn't really be any different because it's a fantasy book.

message 13: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 16 comments Bone Garden by Tess Gerritsen.
The setting is in Boston present day as well as 1830. If the time line was changed then it wouldn't be half as entertaining. I like the way that it switches back and forth between present day and past. The intertwining stories make it very interesting as well as complex.

message 14: by Isaac (new)

Isaac Hernandez (acdcrocks9) | 15 comments Star Wars: Labyrinth of Evil/james luceno
a long time ago, planet of Cato neimoidia where Anakin Skywalker and Obi wan are trying to find Darth sidious.

message 15: by Daniel Arroyo (new)

Daniel Arroyo | 27 comments The time is unknow, the place would have to be by a sea located near Mexico, the culture would have to be Mexican-American.

If the book took place in a different location or time period the moral of the story would be the same, if the story took place in another country the equipment might differ.

It will still involve an old man sailing out with a young boy, unless the characters get replaced with younger actors then the moral of the story would definetly change.

Andreana | 16 comments G-Spot By:Noire
This book takes place in New York city in the town of Harlem. The story would not be different in my opinion it would remain the same just in a different setting. Like instead of it in New York it would take place on the beach or somewhere else. But it would still be the same story.

message 17: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jacqu3s) | 21 comments Thug Matrimony/Wahida Clark
The setting of the story is in Miami, Florida. I don't think the story would be any different if it was in a different setting, it would be the same if it was in Oklahoma.

message 18: by Jaffer (new)

Jaffer | 23 comments Snakehead/Anthony Horowitz
The setting of this story starts out with him being at home and done with all his spy work, but he is sucked back into it by finding out that his Godfather is involved in a new project and they have to go infiltrate a dangerous group called the Snakeheads. If the setting was to be different, it would be a total mess of the whole story. The setting as is fits perfectly with what their objective is.

message 19: by Julianna Clemmer (new)

Julianna Clemmer | 17 comments Coraline/ Neil Gaiman

The setting on Coraline is Coraline’s flat in England in the same time frame as ours. A majority of the story also happens on the other side of door to her flat which leads to her “other” flat and her “other” family. If Coraline was per say based in a Mansion, in the U.S. in the 18 hundreds, the language would be different, many things in the book such as microwave pizza and popcorn would not exist, along with the man up stairs and Miss Spink and Forcible who live down stairs unless the Mansion was split in ownership.

emmanuel gonzalez | 21 comments wind up the river well the are up in the mountains and it is snowing really bad so, it is cold my hands are red the are also Amerindian wearing buffalo skin and make lots of smoke. At the same time the Indians are outside singing while the white man are inside their cabins because are not accustom to the cold.

its another play.
the setting of the play takes place in Ellie's room, living room, a bowling ally and street.
if it was in another time period then the only difference of the story would be the little tunes and the games they play. other wise this play is a widely diverse play as far as time period goes.

Adilene Macedo | 27 comments Well the setting is at Bluford High School when the school year is about to start and when it is going to be Darcy Junior yr. Most of the characters are African American. The story will be pretty much the same if it was in a different setting because the story deals with teenager problems.

message 23: by Warun (new)

Warun (supacoolzulu) | 15 comments my story takes place in germany in small villege where every body knows each other .they are god fearing people who always go to church no mater what/catholic.if the story took place in our time, the charecters would probable be considered as outsiders.they would be very diffrent and strange and people would probably not like them much cause they would try to convert everyone into christens.

message 24: by Anthony Jaques (new)

Anthony Jaques | 25 comments My Name is Asher Lev/ Chaim Potok

This novel takes place in New York in the time of Stalin. The main character is Jewish so this book wouldn't make sense in any other context

message 25: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 19 comments The looking glass wars

My story takes place I'm two places, the looking glass kingdom and Victorian London. I think that if alyss would have been brough to the US in modern day that she would have been comitted because of her wild believe in a made ip world that no one has ever heard of.

message 26: by connor bond (new)

connor bond | 22 comments nick and norahs infinite playlist

the story takes place in NY during relatively this time period. If the setting were to change then obviously all the events would alter for instance if the setting were to change to Ethiopia or something none of the clubs and music parts would really happen because those kinds of places are not abundant in places like Ethiopia

message 27: by Becca (new)

Becca (rewashed) | 21 comments Little Altars Everywhere -Rebecca Wells

1950s-present time. Louisiana. Cajun/Southern.

If this story took place in modern day, oh.. let's say, New York, Sidda's mother would be committed immediately and then the children would have been taken from their parents. Sidda's parents probably would have divorced as well.

The setting of the book is like times right now in a more rich urban neighborhood. If it was placed in a different time period the fact that the kids are so young and having sex probably would not be good.
