Jay Howard (jay_howard) GROUP 8 - moderator K.A.Krisko

START DATE: 09 March 2013

END DATE: 01 June 2013

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you don’t think you can manage to do 4 book reviews between these dates please let me know now. I will find someone else for this group and you will be able to choose a later group that will be more suitable for you. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. When the file is received, please post a GR link to the book in this thread so that the author has confirmation that reviewing of the correct book has started.

There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by 06 April 2013.

When you have posted your review on GR please post a link to your review in this thread.

All reviews of 3, 4 or 5 stars must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

If the rating is 1 or 2 stars, the review must be posted to GR but the author should be asked if they want the review to go to Amazon or not.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

DON’T FORGET TO POST THE LINK TO THE BOOK(S) YOU WILL BE PUTTING FORWARD FOR REVIEWING AS I REQUESTED IN MY PM TO YOU. FAILURE TO DO SO BY THE GROUP START DATE MAY RESULT IN YOU LOSING YOUR PLACE TO ANOTHER MEMBER.

In the next post are the listings for the 4 review rounds, the who reviews who stuff. You don’t have to put forward the same book for every round, but you can only ask for one review per round.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap. If you’ve registered and are not listed here, don’t worry, your turn will come soon in another group.

Edited 23 Feb for LM Steel and Michaela McGregor swap (original listing would have caused a reciprocal review).

message 9: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Uh-oh. Thanks everyone for posting your links. Hold off on any exchanges until I get with Jay & we figure out what's going on! Thanks for pointing it out!

message 10: by Scott (new)

Scott McCloskey | 23 comments I was actually holding off for a bit because I didn't see any other posts on this thread, and was starting to think maybe I was in the wrong place somehow :)

Here is the book I will be offering for all rounds in Group 8 (As I doubt I will have my next one finished before group 8 ends, but we'll see):

The Goldenwealth Light

Per K.A.'s request, I'm going to hold off on offering or accepting anything until she and Jay have cleared everything up. Rarin' to go otherwise!

message 11: by Robin (new)

Robin Waldrop (robinpwaldrop) | 13 comments Hey everyone, for the ones set to review my work, please let me know if you have already read book 1 in the series so I can send you book 2.

message 12: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) OK, folks - can I cover myself with sackcloth and ashes? I stupidly made only half the changes necessary for the 15 member setup instead of 10 member setup and didn't leave myself a note that I'd done so. Many apologies for any confusion caused by this in the round exchanges. And if I've still got it wrong please let me know. In particular, I don't know any of your history. If you find you are due to review someone who has already reviewed your work in another life (ie outside this group!) please let me know while we have time to rearrange things.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

I must say it is very gratifying to see so many of you straight in there with your book links :)

message 13: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments I think everyone will forgive you, seeing as how you are moving houses AND trying to organize a cascade of reviewers...thanks!

message 14: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Yeah, I could have used that excuse, but the truth is my memory is shite. Never mind - easy sorted.

message 15: by Marie-Anne (new)

Marie-Anne Mancio (hotelalphabet) | 139 comments Thanks, Jay you are so on top of things. The GR link to Whorticulture is Whorticulture

message 16: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Wow - 10 confirmations already. That's really keen :)

message 17: by Tony (new)

message 18: by Lu (new)

Lu (luul) Hi Everyone
Sorry it's taken me s long to respond, we've had a sad week in the Steel house.
But here I am.

The Book for Round 1 is the first part of my two-part novel:
Baby Driver

Looking forward to reviewing.

message 19: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hi everyone
L.M. and Michaela have kindly agreed to swap places to avoid reciprocal reviewing with another author. I'll be amending the posts here to match very shortly

message 20: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) H.R. wrote: "I hope I'm doing this right. I usually get nervous pretty easily. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG!

My book for round one is:

The Absence of Falling Stars"

Spot on, Holly :)

message 21: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Let's make sure Jay is done arranging all the groups before everyone jumps in - otherwise it can get very confusing! When Jay gives me the green light, I'll let everyone know here. Thanks for your enthusiasm!

message 22: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) We need just 2 more members to sign in - Joelle and Mona - and then you're all set. It's great seeing you all so keen. I really hope you all enjoy it.

message 23: by Mona (new)

Mona Karel (monakarel) | 78 comments Sorry, I went directly to my reviewer and to be reviewed writer. I'm here

message 24: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Mona wrote: "Sorry, I went directly to my reviewer and to be reviewed writer. I'm here"

Hi Mona - could you paste the GR link here to the book you want reviewed please? Thanks :)

message 25: by Mona (new)

Mona Karel (monakarel) | 78 comments I gave HR a choice, and she went for "option two" Unfortunately Goodreads won't let me access my messages, so I can't remember which one was two. Sigh. Lack of sleep sucks sometimes

message 26: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Good to have you with us again, anyway :) You're not moving house too are you, Mona?

message 27: by Mona (new)

Mona Karel (monakarel) | 78 comments Not likely! Moving back into an active life after the first (very necessary, I found out) year after my husband's death.

message 28: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Oh, I'm sorry for your loss, Mona. That must be very tough to deal with. We'll do our best to help you keep active :) How about writing a short for the group anthology?

message 29: by Mona (new)

Mona Karel (monakarel) | 78 comments Hmmm, might do that. Playing with a novella, possibly erotic, about the bad guy in My Killer My Love, who is sent to earth to learn humility. Gonna take him a long long time
Any particular subject short?

message 30: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Mona, take a look at the thread on the anthology for charity - the current theme is "water", but that's been fairly loosely interpreted.

message 31: by Mona (new)

Mona Karel (monakarel) | 78 comments Thank you all for the kind thoughts. Life did hit with a kick in the posterior but I am moving forward.
Oh good. The paranormal is the book related to the novella I'm working on. So that's http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...
And the other book is a departure from most contemporary romance, being more tender and caring than conflict. Not that it's sweet, they just don't spend the book sniping at each other before they fall into each others arms.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Mona wrote: "Hmmm, might do that. Playing with a novella, possibly erotic, about the bad guy in My Killer My Love, who is sent to earth to learn humility. Gonna take him a long long time

It's extremely loosely a water theme as the proceeds are going to WaterAid. So loose, in fact, that mine is A Nice Cup of Tea... well, it's made with water, isn't it?!

Here's the link:

message 33: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If Joelle doesn't confirm - and I think it's just a time delay with her: she has seemed very keen to me, just not at the editing position previously to publish and join in, and a bit slow to pick up her messages - then everything can proceed on the basis if we don't hear from her she will be replaced and those particular pairings will be affected. So everyhing's good for Round 1 bar Ali as a reviewer of Joelle and Tony to be reviewed by Joelle.

message 34: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Ready...set...go!

message 35: by Robin (new)

Robin Waldrop (robinpwaldrop) | 13 comments Question: can I read all 4 books and post reviews now, or do I have to wait for each round to start?

message 36: by Robin (new)

Robin Waldrop (robinpwaldrop) | 13 comments Okay, thanks for the head's up. To date I have read and reviewed round 1's book.

message 37: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If Joelle doesn't get in touch by next Friday I'll slot another person into that position. Every other pairing is good to go :)

message 38: by Robin (new)

Robin Waldrop (robinpwaldrop) | 13 comments Yeah, because they're slotted to review me in round 3...lol.

My life's story...day late and a dollar short. ;o)

message 39: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Please remember when you post a review to paste the GR link to the review here on your group thread. That will make it much easier for Kathy to keep tracks of how you are all doing, and also easy for you all to check out each other's reviews.

message 40: by Joelle (new)

Joelle (joelle_casteel) sorry all, I've been off. will see to responding to messages for first round. Here's the link http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17...
I have access to Kindle, Nook, and PDF versions for readers.

message 41: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Okay, folks - this group technically doesn't start until the 9th, but since everyone has checked in, you're good to go if you want. Please read through the instructions and don't forget to post a link to the REVIEW (not the book) when you have done one, in this thread.

Happy reading!

message 42: by Alison (new)

Alison Newell | 46 comments I have completed my review of Harsh Thakar's story Ablaze and posted in on Goodreads. Here is the link to it.

message 43: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Wow, that's fast! thanks, Alison!

message 44: by Joelle (new)

Joelle (joelle_casteel) Jay, just wanted to check as I'm not finding the answer on my own- are we required in our reviews to acknowledge we got the copy free to review (like you have to with the giveaways?)

message 45: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Joelle, I think there's some question about whether or not Amazon requires that statement. I never make it (I usually just forget), but others do make mention of it both on Goodreads and Amazon. I haven't had any reviews I've done pulled on either site. For the time being, I'd say it's your choice. I haven't seen a definitive answer either way.

message 46: by Joelle (new)

Joelle (joelle_casteel) Thanks, K.A. I wanted to make sure.

message 47: by Michaela (new)

Michaela McGregor (michaelamcgregor) | 27 comments I've posted the review for Ties to the Blood Moon.

message 48: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Thanks, Michaela!
