So what's everyone's plans for the weekend?

I've got a fairly quiet one for me! Going to pop to the library in the morning and sort my membership again (I haven't been for a couple of years and can't seem to log online any more), then I'm off to the cinema to see Beautiful Creatures in the afternoon.

Then Saturday night and Sunday is going to be a quiet, relaxing one.

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I have a busy weekend, a store opening, then I. heading out off town for the night to visit a friend who is moving a couple of hours away. I'm most looking forward to Sunday as I'm visiting the family I used to work for and I haven't seen them in a while! This weekend marks a year since I left them!

I've not long joined Weight Watchers, so cake shouldn't really be on my mind...but who can say no to free cake?! lol!

What is your audition for? Good luck! I wish I could dance, but I'm too uncoordinated!

Good luck with that! Don't forget to breath, it helps!

I'm heading to the gym later today, then a bit of cleaning and cooking. My bf might join me for dinner. I might help a friend with her CV tomorrow. Other than that just relaxing and finding the remote of my window (it's a velux so i need a remote to open and close it as well as open and close the curtains). I have no idea where it is!!!!!! :@ :@ :@

Hi Lynn,

Thank you. I had a wonderful day today. I now have my BA having just come back from graduation which I celebrated with my husband, children and my own father who came all the from Victoria, Australia, to share it with me.

Nicolette (cocopuff09120) Mine was wonderful but I am NOT ready for it to be Monday soon!

message 20: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 38 comments Good and relaxing for me, thanks. I'm just watching the Oscars right now. Hoping Les Miserables comes out on top because that movie was definitely Oscar-worthy in my opinion. I'm not ready for Monday either! How was your weekend?

message 22: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments My weekend went to quickly, I would gladly spent a day or two not going to work, but Monday came and it'll go equally quickly LOL

I was wondering what might have happened to the cooking topic, because it has disappered from the list of topics, is there anyone who can give me a clue on that?

It's still there, the 'front page' (for want of a better description) only shows a certain amount of threads in each folder (5 max I think). Click on the folder name, in this case members, and it will show you all the threads in that folder.

Oh, thanks a lot for the tip, I missed the fact that only five topics appear at the front page :)

Cathie wrote: "How did your audition go Isabella?"

Yeah, enquiring minds want to know :)

Yesterday I spent most of the day stood in the freezing cold, in the middle of a main shopping street, measuring the distance between various trees and lamposts.

Boy did we get some strange looks from passers by! It didn't help that my boss kept doing this strange stride to measure out each metre length .... even though we had a measuring tape.
When he started doing that I walked away and just stood watching him ::rolleyes::

message 29: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I have a problem...I started an exercise challenge with a friend so I kinda need to go to the gym....but I just want to read! Hmmm...decisions, decisions. If I lose the challenge I have to take donuts to my weight watchers meeting!

How is everyone else's week going?

message 30: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Lynn, what do you do that requires you to measure the distance between trees and lampposts?

message 31: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4466 comments Mod
Isn't taking donuts to a weight watchers meeting counter-productive? ::confused::

I'm the organiser of the York Food and Drink Festival. A 10 day festival that runs every September; with a 100 strong market, 4 demonstrations a day, 4 workshops a day, a couple of evening events a day (dinners, wine tastings etc.), community school projects, taste trail, ale trail .... the list goes on :)

We are looking at a new layout this year so needed to check measurements before meeting the marquee contractors.

message 32: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments That sounds like a huge event, is it popular among locals and people from other parts of the UK?

message 33: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4466 comments Mod
It is a huge, my job is full time all year for a 10 day event.

Yes it's popular for both locals and other parts.

message 34: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments It seems worth considering as a holiday destination :)

message 35: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments How long have you been involved with the Festival, Lynn?

message 36: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4466 comments Mod
Oh years .... I can't for the life of me remember how long now, 16 mabye 17 years?

It was first run by the local council and we (I work for a couple who run two successful restaurants and I was originally one of their front of house managers) used to help. Then my boss took over as the Festival Director, turned it into a non for profit organisation and it turned into the beast that it is today :)

Since nothing is actually banned on weight watchers it's not so bad...this way we actually have to earn the donut!

Your job sounds fun. You must get to meet a ton of new people and try lots of food and drink!

So I've just spent a lovely afternoon with my Mum. Went for lunch and stuffed our bellies with yummy food, then went for an afternoon theatre trip to see Goodnight Mr. Tom.

How's your weekend going?

I'm jealous!!!! I love Goodnight Mr Tom!!!! I want to fly home just to watch it!! How was it?

This weekend I'm being good (boring) and working out lots, gym class this morning and a walk this afternoon, same again tomorrow and in between I'm reading! I also need to find a gift for my parents 35th wedding anniversary but I don't have a clue what to get them!!

Kristie wrote: "Oh my gosh, Lynn! Go work out!!! You can't bring donuts to Weight Watchers. lol How about reading on the treadmill???"

I have tried reading on the treadmill, I fall off! As for donuts at weight watchers...points wise they're about the same as a micro meal!

Sorry, I had to answer that quickly as I was in the middle of something at the time .....

The main boy (playing Will) was a little wooden but overall it was a nice little production. My mum enjoyed it, which was the main aim as it was her Christmas present from me.

Today is a PJ TV day, one of my favourites!

Going out on a 'school' night once you get older isn't really a good idea!

Savanes | 2107 comments Christine wrote: "Why didn't you sleep to good?"

Same as Joanne, a creepy dream in addition to a good fight with my pillows and sheet. I couldn't find a proper position and my bed sheet didn't want to remain in the correct position! Grrrrrr

My dog woke me up three hours before I was supposed to be up this morning and I couldn't fall back to sleep. (She was super excited, which made it worse! lol) I've been feeling dozy all day! Trying to get some homework done before class tonight, but not getting very far.

Has anyone here read the Sirantha Jax series? A friend of mine recommended Endgame, but it's the sixth and final book in the series. I was wondering if it's a stand alone book or if I would need to read the others for background info. Any advice??
