Stretching to reach my phone when it tumbled from my left hand, I jumped when a pair of boots appeared before me. What I didn't expect, as my gaze traveled north from the worn black combat boots, up a pair of muscular legs, was to find the hem of a skirt. I nearly shook my head, puzzled, because the legs didn't look feminine. Further up, I could see the pleated skirt was low on his waist with a white shirt plastered to his well toned chest. Then the face. Yes, the face. I knew the guy whose face now wore a smirk. Running a hand through his thick black hair, he gave me a knowing grin seeing me appreciate the view. A couple inches further and I would have been able to see just what was under that skirt. Or was that called a kilt?

"Stop drooling," he said, with the full force of his Scottish brogue.

"In your dreams," I scoffed.

Standing, he towered over me looking very pissed off. "You haven't answered me. Why weren't you dressed?"

*wide eyed* Okay, by-passing the slip about Mercy's *cough* lack of attire...I get this twinge of unease when reading about Luke. The Luke we've read about, and liked, never would talk to Mercy that way. He's been overly-possessive and I have to agree with Mercy - this isn't her Luke. Something's definitely up!

Yes I agree. Flynn chooses to have sex with everyone when he can get what he needs without it. Luke doesn't push to have sex with Mercy when he knows she is not ready. If you love someone you wait and not have sex with other people.

Luke has a temper yes. I actually like he is getting a little possessive. He has been too passive with Flynn's crap in the past. It is now time to fight for what he and Mercy share.

Okay, so I see the point you're making. BUT ~ Flynn's love for Mercy is totally unrequited. He's always been able to just do whatever he wants with woman, so he gets what he needs and they don't get attached. This is who he is. Mercy's been pretty clear about her love for Luke. So should Flynn just give up fully feeding his demon on the off chance that Mercy might one day change her mind?

I feel for the guy. He must see in Mercy a future he can't have with anyone else. And probably does not see a good future for Mercy & Luke.

It would be torture to have it waved in your face but not be able to do anything about it. I say drown your sorrows how ever you can ~ let that freak flag fly Flynn!

Regardless, he still always tries to be there for Mercy and Luke whenever they really need him. He loves them both and puts his own feelings last.

If Luke loved Flynn as much as Flynn loves Luke maybe Luke would have backed off and let Flynn have a chance with Mercy. Knowing how good they would be for each others demons. Just saying...

Also, Luke's break up with Mercy in the previous book annoyed me - Luke's a great guy and everything, but all because a relationship isn't easy, or you're 'not meant to be together', etc. doesn't mean you should break up with a person when they clearly want to be with you and are broken up about it. 'Sexy Lexi' didn't help his cause either.

Flynn may be a lot of things, but at least he remains true to himself and doesn't start anything he can't finish. He keeps his distance even though it kills him to. He's with other girls because he's an incubus, guys. But Luke not only kept secrets from Mercy (being a Nephilim, being her 'guardian angel', etc.) but he hurts her supposedly with good intentions and then expects to get back together easily.

I think Luke and Flynn need to even the playing grounds. Luke needs to step down and they both need to be given the chance to fight/court/woo/have a chance with Mercy and let her decide. That would be fair. And then the loser would have to back off, but they had a chance to win her.

Yep. That was quite a rant! Luke fans, I apologise for offending any of you - I love Luke, but Flynn has a special place in my heart (him and his witty banter, bless him!) and I think a fair fight is in order...hopefully non-violent.

Because if the air isn't cleared, so to speak, and they don't try to work things out fairly and openly, Flynn harbouring 'secret' feelings for Mercy will only lead to both guys losing their friendship and things going downhill. They need to work things out. :)

However the heart wants what the heart wants. I think part of Mercys feeling for Flynn have to do with him being the right choice. They have compatable demons. I believe Mercy truly loves Luke.

In the WFM book who did she dream of even when they were not a couple. Luke and Mercy have to fight heart and soul to be together. They are both giving up a lot for each other and I think in the end that is what will keep them together. Why would you fight for something you don't really want?

I also think that Luke has been a better friend to Flynn than Flynn has been. Every chance Flynn gets to make a pass at Mercy he does. I think Flynn is confused thinking sex will equal love. Even when Mercy has said she wants Luke Flynn still pushes it. Luke did end things with Mercy because he did not think he was right for her. In the end it was Luke she wanted to be with.

Damn now I am going on and on. I just love Luke! Even my daughter and I fight about this as she is team Flynn.

Sorry I am a couple days late peps.I think Flynn is just trying to treat Mercy like any other girl. Trying to prove (manly to him self) that she doesn't matter even though everybody knows he cares. He is trying to deal with what his demon wants with out hurting his best friend too much. Flynn sees a happily ever after with Mercy. That I don't think Luck sees. Both love her but I have a feeling that Flynn loves her like only a soul mate can.

But I also have to reread. I really like the points you made because Flynn does irritate me when he treats her bad. Luke is there right when it happens to make her feel better.

But Luke has become a total jerk to her now that he's all tainted. It's really not a good thing she's with him. Also it does seem like Luke is always there when Flynn makes a mistake....
