Cosmic Sher (sherart) Oh come ON people, did we really need another study (and the money to go with it) to figure this one out? Yea, the findings are interesting, but really?

Ruth It's my considered opinion, altho my direct research in this field is almost 50 years behind me now, thankgawd, that toddlers disobey because they have just discovered they are independent entities and can disobey. It's practice.

As for 'I know you don't want to take your coat now, but when you're standing in the yard shivering later, remember that you can get your coat from your bedroom."

Obviously this person has never seen a kid, teeth chattering, blue with cold, still insisting on staying in the water.

What's wrong with that old standby: "DON'T COME CRYING TO ME WHEN YOU'RE COLD AND SHIVERING!"

I didn't say that. It was the idiot article.

smetchie Ruth I know you didn't say it. You said "As for": IT.
I was merely adding on.

this goes in the same category with the study that found that clueless people didn't know they were clueless. From the University of Duh.

That's alright Ko, I went to the University of New Age Hippies and their Bad Performance Art. I have no room to judge.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha.... Nope. But its in Berkeley.

message 9: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) My daughter still can't remember to wear her coat outside and unless I force her to she comes in all happy & played out, and utterly sick the next day from not realizing she was freezing in the rain in the first place.

My thought is, they are kids and we are the parents... do we really need studies to tell us what we already know? How does this help the world be a better place?

definitely save you some hassle. as my mother loves to say, don't try to teach a pig how to sing. it won't work and the pig won't like it.

that would be the easy way, but it wouldn't be the cowboy way.

Ruth I have long been convinced that the inability to see what's directly in front of you is a trait linked to the Y chromosome.

message 13: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (sardonicprincessofcheerfulness) ...unless it is a 'pair'!

message 14: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) Ah, sadly Ruth, I have that inability as well. I'm great at keeping track of everyone else's stuff, but when I'm on the hunt for something I've just had I have to go find the hubby and have him look. It is often right in front of my nose. (sigh) And, I've regrettably passed this trait down to my daughter.

message 15: by Lori (new)

Lori Oh I always blame it on the ghost in my house who seems to take delight in playing games with me. The only thing is, why does the ghost only take my things, and never my husband's?

message 16: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) Well, I thought it was just me that thought like this, so I'm relieved. I always think something uber-supernatural is happening because I'll put something down, turn to get it and it's gone, and hours later it will be there again.

I like the faeries & ghosts version much better than that I'm just nuts. :D Thanks gals.
