Joyce (booklover736) This year I'd like to read 50 books. I've never documented how many books I read in a year, but about 1 per week seems good.

Joyce (booklover736) Another book done. 11 out of 50. 2 books ahead of schedule. Paaz was good read. It's about a girl who ends up at the Paaz, a phychiatric hospital. Her struggle with phychiatrists, medication, the other patients and life in general provide for humorous and emotional moments.

lol

Joyce (booklover736) Nyssa and MrsJoseph, thanks for the welcome!

Joyce (booklover736) Book 12 is done: Spying in high heels by Gemma Halliday. I loved this book! A perfect combination of some of my favourite genres: chicklit, mysterie and romance. Highly recommended for everyone who loves those genres.

Joyce (booklover736) Just finished number 13: The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Schaffer. And all I can Say is: WOW!
Next up: The fault in our stars by John Green. Yeah, I Know, really really unoriginal. But I just have to know what everyone is talking about.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments I know the feeling! Well, I'm glad to see you & I hope all is well.

Joyce (booklover736) Yes, life somtimes gets in the way of reading :(

Joyce (booklover736) Just finished The Fault in our Stars by John Green. It's the first time a book made me cry. Need I say more......? Speechless...

message 18: by Caleb (new)

Caleb Blake (caleb72) | 437 comments I put The Fault in Our Stars on my wish list. Thanks for that.

Joyce (booklover736) Caleb wrote: "I put The Fault in Our Stars on my wish list. Thanks for that."
Yeah :) Everybody should read this. Prepair yourself to cry ;)

Joyce (booklover736) Just finished Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. Recommended to everyone who loves contemporary romance. Next up: The Night Circs by Erin Morgenstern.

message 21: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments I've had The Night Circus on my radar for a while now. I'm curious what you think.

Joyce (booklover736) Homeinmyshoes wrote: "I've had The Night Circus on my radar for a while now. I'm curious what you think."
Ofcourse I'll let you know!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Its on my TBR, too.

Joyce (booklover736) Just finished The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and I really did not like that book at all. It was just too much detail about everything, constantly. Moving on to Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I hope this will be better.

message 25: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments Hmmm...it wasn't very high on my list of potential reads so I guess it's just a little lower.

Joyce (booklover736) I didn't mean to influence anyone :) , but if someone doesn't like lots of details and little story, he/she probably won't like The Night Circus.

message 27: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments I just pushed it down again.

Joyce (booklover736) Woooo! Book 17 done! Cinder by Marissa Meyer. An instant all-time favorite. Can't wait to read the sequel Scarlet.

Joyce (booklover736) Book 18: The Selection by Kiera Cass. I didn't really love this book. I thought the characters were kind of fake and irritating. And it was kind of the bachelor-like. Hey, I should have known ;) Up next: Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. I want to read this book, before I see the movie.

Ooh! There was a lot of controversy surrounding that book in 2012. I heard it was also optioned for a TV show by WB.

Joyce (booklover736) I finished book 19: Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion and I loved this book. I never though zombies can be cute, but R is! Cute romance and dystopian action. what more could I ask for.
Next up: Across the Universe by Beth Revis

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments I thought I was joking when I suggested post-apocalyptic zombie romance as a book club category.

Haha, yes we don't see this often. But it turned out amazing.

Dearly, Departed - I hear there are gems like "unicorn fart."

Joyce (booklover736) Just finished book 21: Delirium by Lauren Oliver. And wow, what a good written, emotional book. But after reading 5 dystopians in a row, I'm kind of done with the genre for now. On to something else: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments Oooh, I liked that one.

I know! That makes me tempted to read it...

...Then I remember that I'm rarely in agreement with popular books, lol!

Joyce (booklover736) I'm in some kind of reading slump right now :( Started The Book Thief by Makus Zusak but couldn't get through it for some strange reason, because it's a great book. So, I finished half of it so far and started reading Beauty Queens by Libba Bray, witch I finished today. I'm so glad I finished a book after 14 (!!) days.

Joyce (booklover736) Just finished The Archived by Victoria Schwab and this is seriously the best book I have ever read. I can't get over it. The characters, the world-building, the story, the writing-style - everything was just so beautiful. GO READ IT!!!!

Joyce (booklover736) Finished book 24 for this year: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. Another one that everybody should read. It's so beautiful. I cried. It made me cry. Need I say more....

Joyce (booklover736) Yes, I'm halfway done! Finished book 25 of 50. I loved City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Highly recommended to Harry Potter and Dresden Files fans. And everybody else :)

Joyce (booklover736) I just finished The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and I realy liked it, witch I didn't expect. So, yeeah :)
And it's my second classic this year (counting The Hobbit). That means I allready read more classics this year than in the rest of my life.

Shame on you haha ;)

Joyce (booklover736) Finished a other book: Legend by Marie Lu. A short, fast paced, YA dystopian. A great read.
