The BURIED Book Club discussion

I know next to nothing about this woman except that she's German. I found her Last Trolley from Beethovenstraat book misplaced in a Goodwill used book section, adorned with a beautiful David R. Godine imprint, which House's reputation was enough to risk US$1. I see that three more of her books have made it into English, Aftershocks: Seven Stories (also by Godine), Bride Price, Meine Schwester Antigone.

From which we might glean that she has published ten books (not all of which are in goodreads database) translated John Hawkes's The Lime Twig as Die Leimrute (1964) (also not in goodreads databanks), and for thematic universe we might say that her books have something to do with Holocaust überleben.

From the preface to Aftershocks: Seven Stories, she translated Lawrence Durrell into German as well - it doesn't specify which work.

Randomly came across Aftershocks: Seven Stories when used book shopping yesterday and picked it up because I'm a sucker for the Verba Mundi series of books. I found it to be excellent. It doesn't necessarily do anything new or unique, it's just an incredible, dense in its brevity, collection of short story/ruminations of the aftershocks of the Holocaust to those who survived it (the preface suggests that "Radiation Sickness" would also be an appropriate title, with its malignant lingering aftereffects - I have to agree), that are both intelligent and affecting.
