You know, I believe in the opening of a book. I believe that a good hook... even the very first sentence can not only sell the readers, but the author him/herself on the story that's about to unfold under their fingers. I spend a huge amount of time crafting my first sentences. I'll tell you what my favorites are when you've commented here. But the first sentence in THE WITCH OF LITTLE ITALY always spoke to me. It became the TRUTH to my novel:
"All the Amore siblings had The Sight in varying degrees, and its fickleness got us into trouble sometimes..." What do you think? Is it a good first sentence? What are some of your favorites?
