Kim | 1499 comments We thought this might be an interesting thread to see how many of the group books members have read. The total currently stands at 131 books read, 2 currently-reading, and 2 to-read.

I'm currently at 100/133 (I'm not counting to-read yet). I joined the group in August 2010 so there are a few books from before then that I've not read. Some I already mean to, others I've not heard of. I've missed a couple books since joining and they're all waiting on my Kindle to be read at some point.

The two I'm not sure if I'll ever finish are Red Mars, which was really boring me, and Weaveworld, which I just couldn't get in to.

The best place to see what we've read is here on the bookshelf, https://www.goodreads.com/group/books..., or you can check out our listopia, https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3....

J.D. Tew (j_d_tew) | 15 comments I am a new member, and I am currently engaged in, "Ripples in an Emerald Sea." I am enjoying it so far. So I guess I have read .24.

message 3: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments Well that's not one of our club reads.

message 4: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Tew (j_d_tew) | 15 comments Yikes. I do apologize. I will now direct myself towards the club reads. Thank you.

message 5: by Paul (new)

Paul (brocklaser) | 18 comments I am new to the group and have only read 5 (6 if you include the warded man). Many of them are on my to read list though!

message 6: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 748 comments I'm on 16/133 and currently reading Midnight Riot which will make 17. I'd love to see how many books on our bookshelf I can read by the end of the year - I'm going to make 50 my goal for 2013.

message 7: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) I've read about 40% of the 133 books.

message 8: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (fireweaver) | 344 comments 55 with the group since I joined in late 2009, but another dozen or so that I'd already read before and since that are on our list.

message 9: by Camilla (new)

Camilla Hansen (malazanshadowdancer) Just joined a few days ago, but like Paul, a lot of them are on my to read list. I hope to join in next month, though!

message 10: by Ric (new)

Ric (ricaustria) | 17 comments Haven't figured out a way to get this statistic from GR but I'd say 20-30% of the group books.

message 11: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 889 comments Looks like I've read 74 of them, though a lot of those were before I joined, or after the group read.

message 12: by Carole-Ann (new)

Carole-Ann (blueopal) | 145 comments I've read about half of the books on the list - but many, many more which aren't there :)

Is there any reason why there are only the first in a series mentioned, or only one or two written by a particular author??

message 13: by carol. (new)

carol. | 256 comments Hm, I think 57. Some a long time ago. There's some on the shelves that I've added to my TBR (Snow Crash, Altered Carbon) and some I'll never read (R.R. Martin, Dr. Who). Overall, it's a great selection of books; a little heavy on the classics, but that's why they are classics :D

message 14: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments Ric wrote: "Haven't figured out a way to get this statistic from GR but I'd say 20-30% of the group books."

The only way is to look at the bookshelf and manually count them.

Carole-Ann wrote: "Is there any reason why there are only the first in a series mentioned, or only one or two written by a particular author?? "

Because those are the books we've read.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2717 comments 45, or about 1/3. Like others have said, though, I don't think I read most with the group, though a few I have.

message 16: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments I'd say at least around 1/3 of the group books I've read I read before I joined the group or I read later by myself.

Since I joined the group I've read along with every pick apart from a couple.

message 17: by Bev (new)

Bev (greenginger) I think 65 but most of those were prior to joining a few months ago.

message 18: by Trike (new)

Trike 45/133 with Hyperion being one I abandoned. By the side of the road. After punching it in the nuts.

message 19: by D.L. (new)

D.L. Christopher (DLChristopher) | 24 comments 28 so far - though I have to say Weaveworld is one of my favourite books of all time. Must have read it over ten times. How far did you get through it?

message 20: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 106 comments I have read 77, including one of next month's but not counting one I just started and another I will start in a day or so. Some I read before I joined the group, some I read with the group and others I read after the group. When I read them after the group I always go back and read the group's discussions.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

59 or so. But there were several that I DNFed though.

message 22: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (seeford) | 203 comments I have read 34 of them, but I have probably about another 40 of them on my TBR list.

message 23: by Anne (last edited Mar 22, 2013 07:28PM) (new)

Anne | 166 comments 29 read and 2 DNF

message 24: by Hisuhn (new)

Hisuhn (ramoth) I've read about 15 of the books, but I only joined this group a few days ago, so haven't had the change to join in on a book the group's reading.

message 25: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments D.L. wrote: "28 so far - though I have to say Weaveworld is one of my favourite books of all time. Must have read it over ten times. How far did you get through it?"

Somewhere in the first chapter. I just really couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll try again some day.

message 26: by Xdyj (new)

Xdyj | 53 comments Only 45 so far.

message 27: by D.L. (new)

D.L. Christopher (DLChristopher) | 24 comments Kim wrote: "D.L. wrote: "28 so far - though I have to say Weaveworld is one of my favourite books of all time. Must have read it over ten times. How far did you get through it?"

The first chapter is quite set-up heavy, a fairly grey prologue to a fantastically colourful work - though as I was born in the particular industrial waste-land it's set in, I suppose it has a little more hold on me. The novel is one of the best dark fantasy novels of all time in my opinion (for what it's worth), well worth giving another go. By far and away Barker's best work and I'm a fan of his in general.

message 28: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 6 comments 42 so far, but I only joined this month. Promise I'll be good and read some more!

message 29: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (psramsey) | 393 comments 46 so far - but I saw a whole lot of books I want to read.

This day job thing is sure cutting into my real life.

message 30: by Julia (new)

Julia | 957 comments 40- something.

message 31: by Ron (last edited Mar 25, 2013 04:47AM) (new)

Ron | 6 comments I'm at 45 so far, with a bunch more on my to read list. I joined in February so I have some catching up to do.

message 32: by David (new)

David (waltond) | 20 comments I'm at 43. A great collection of books, though, many of which I've intended to read at various times. (A few of which I even have on my shelf but haven't gotten around to!)

message 33: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments I'm going to try and read the rest of the club books by the end of the year.

message 34: by Richard (new)

Richard (thinkingbluecountingtwo) | 447 comments Thanks Kim. I love lists and putting ticks next to them!

Out of our read and currently reading shelves I've managed 60, or maybe 61 if we count a totally abortive attempt of the disaster that was our Dr Who pick. I've only got 3 of the rest on my TBR shelf.

I think my problem is I'm an awful bigot and usually end up not reading any of our Fantasy picks. Probably too stuck in my ways to change now, but I'll promise to try a little harder.
Maybe...

message 35: by Mark (new)

Mark | 37 comments 63 for me ... though most before I joined ...

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

27 so far, but I have quite a few of them on my to-read shelves.

Kim | 1499 comments Richard wrote: "Out of our read and currently reading shelves I've managed 60, or maybe 61 if we count a totally abortive attempt of the disaster that was our Dr Who pick."

I counted that one. Nobody should ever have to finish that book.

message 38: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin (beniowa79) | 383 comments If I include the upcoming April books, I've read 57.

message 39: by Mike (new)

Mike (mikespencer) | 75 comments I'm at 45. I'm not sure how many I actually read with the group. Often, I read them after the fact.

message 41: by Clouds (new)

Clouds (cloudsreads) I have just joined and I'm starting out at 38 books - with another dozen or so either waiting to be read on my shelves, or on my shopping list :-)

Good list! (I like lists)

Anyone with a bit of time on their hands could make an official Listopia list, to make the voting/counting easy?

message 42: by Evilynn (new)

Evilynn | 331 comments I've read 52, although most of those before I joined the group. I tend to try to find something to read along with every month, but it's a battle between different groups and other reading challenges.

message 43: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments I've made an official Listopia list - http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/34...

However it will only tell you which of the top 100 you've read, not out of all the books.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 889 comments Cool list. I just copied that into a spreadsheet, then did some checking.

I read 22 of these with the group.
28 of them I read long before the group.
9 I read since the group did.
2 I could not finish.
74 I have not read at all.

ETA: Reseaching a little further, of those I have not read,

28 I want to read.
15 I am not interested in.
31 of them I neither want to read nor want to avoid.
