Swati this book is so awesome, i was wondering whether there are any books similar to this with intense emotions, dominant hero not cheesy like captor-slave????

Sleepy Maybe the Consequence series, the third one isn't out yet but its also a mind fuck! I haven't read Truth yet but everyone tells me its better than the first and so good! Also maybe The Lonely. Hope that helps.:-)

Sleepy Undeniable is pretty raw and gritty but its about a motorcycle gang, not dom/sub. One of my favorite books!

I agree consequence & truth are really mind-blowing-intense read. Though its not as sexually explicit as the dark duet series & The lover/ villain is different kind of animal & You might also like Sempre, another criminal baddy boyfriend, which is equally intense .

Terri (N.J.) I totally agree with Sleepy. Consequenses and Truth, The Lonely and Undeniable. 3 of my all time fav's. I love anything twisted!!

What is the lonely about and who is the author? Thanks!

Sleepy Tara Brown is the author of the lonely. Its kind of hard to explain what its about but I thought it was really good! Twisted and dark

Tiffany Readz The Lonely and Undeniable are both excellent reads, but I wouldn't say there is anything close to the Dark Duet. The Lonely was a dark, mental read for other reasons you will find out, and I think Undeniable was just a gritty MC read, not really along the lines of Dark.

Renea Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas is kinda similar. Its similar in some ways and different in other ways. You would have to read it to understand what Im talking about. I highly recommend it.

Try Screaming in the Silence by Lydia Kelly and Held by Edeet Ravel
:)

Swati @amethyst-y
thanks held is quite good i will read it :)

message 16: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J I agree with Amethyst-y about Screaming in the Silence. A really good read even if it deals with a dark story. Also, if you haven't read it yet, "The Tied Man". Very dark and brutal, but extremely well written and will really draw you in. It was the book that got me started on a little darker path of reading.

Also try Bec Botefuhr's Dark Brother series. #3 comes out soon. Amethyst-y wrote: "Swativ1008 wrote: If you know something else with such psychological thrillers then do let me know i enjoy reading it :) "

Sandy Was just going suggest the Dark Brothers, loved them!

message 18: by J (last edited Apr 13, 2013 07:53AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Sandy

So glad to hear that. I loved the story, didn't think it was Shakespeare, but it kept my interest and I got further and further involved. Can't wait for #3.

Swati @judy Actually i had already read screaming in the silence but i will read the tied man if its dark I enjoy dark books :)

message 20: by J (last edited Apr 07, 2013 08:53AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Just beware that The Tied Man is not for the faint of heart but certainly a great read. A few of the scenes might turn your stomach but we all got through it and are now waiting for The Tied Man Unbound later on. No cliffhanger in #1 so you don't need #2, but I think you will look forward to it after reading #1.

Also thought of another book I liked in a somewhat similar vein (and very dark and brutal) Trust in Me by Skye Warren. Swativ1008 wrote: "@judy Actually i had already read screaming in the silence but i will read the tied man if its dark I enjoy dark books :)"

Hey Judy are the Sky Warren books stand alone's or continuations ?? I have the first on my list but wasn't sure if I would have to jump right into the next.

message 22: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Terri:

This Skye Warren book was a stand alone. I have a (long) list of book #2's or #3's that I'm waiting to be published and her name isn't on it so I think all of the books I've read of hers are stand alone. Hope this helps.Terri wrote: "Judy wrote: "Just beware that The Tied Man is not for the faint of heart but certainly a great read. Terri (N.J.) Thanks Judy ! I will add it to my very long list. lol

Sandy The Consequences series has a dark edge and is really good too. Definitely pulls u in and lots of twists between the two books. Currently waiting for the third book.

message 25: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J I wish I could say I liked Consequences but I didn't. I bought it shortly after reading "The Tied Man" but couldn't finish it. I found TTM to be so much more compelling and well written.

Tiffany Readz I didn't like Consequences either and didn't bother reading the second one. I am going to go ahead and check out Comfort Foods.

message 27: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Tiffany: Please check out The Tied Man also if you haven't read it yet.

Tiffany Readz Will do, thanks for the suggestion!

Sandy Judy wrote: "I wish I could say I liked Consequences but I didn't. I bought it shortly after reading "The Tied Man" but couldn't finish it. I found TTM to be so much more compelling and well written."

Judy - Well if you liked The Tied Man over Concsequences I guess I will have to check it out - thanks for the recommendation!

Karen I just finished Take Me, Break Me (Pierced Hearts, #1) by Cari Silverwood Very good, and extremely well written. Starts off consensual, but turns kind of dark.

message 31: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Karen: Just purchased Take Me, Break Me and will start it soon. Thanks for the recommendation.

For those reading "The Tied Man" just know it is not for the faint of heart. But,it is extremely well written and for me was life changing. There will be some parts that will be hard to get through, but just hang on. It's worth the ride.

Tiffany Readz Darker, more brutal or what? Will probably check it out along with Comfort Food next week. Thanks again.

message 33: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Tiffany: Yes, dark and brutal. Don't want to give anything away but let's just say that the leading male character doesn't always enjoy what he's doing. And, yes, I think you will be kind of horrified and shocked, but these characters will come alive to you and you will really care what happens to them.

Just so you know there will be (per author Tabitha McGowan) a "Tied Man Unbound" in the future. Book #1 has no cliffhanger and can be read as a stand alone but when you finish TTM #1, I think you will be so happy with more of the story.

I'd be interested in knowing how you like Comfort Food. I've read mixed things.

Karen Tiffany wrote: "Darker, more brutal or what? Will probably check it out along with Comfort Food next week. Thanks again."

Yes to both. Most of these kind of books have an experienced Dom. This Dom had no idea he was going to be one, or even want to be one. The inner dialogue is amazing as they fall deeper into their roles as D/s. Not just D/s, but Master/slave.

Tiffany Readz Yep, I am still going to check it out. Thanks for the info.

50shadeslvr I finished Comfort Food last week and it was a total letdown. It started out promising and then just totally fizzled. To each his own, but I think its a waste of money.

YES YES YES!! the second is even better although Consequence really good Truth is off the chain you wont see it coming! READ IT!

J Tiffany:

Thanks for the Comfort Food thoughts. I think I will pass on that one. My kindle is totally full of books I haven't read yet so I'll concentrate on those.

Trisha: Sorry to disappoint, but I really tried hard on Consequences, just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters at all. The Tied Man spoiled me.50shadeslvr wrote: "I finished Comfort Food last week and it was a total letdown. It started out promising and then just totally fizzled. To each his o

No not The Tied Man, but Take Me, Break Me. I haven't read The Tied Man yet, but I have it on my TBR list. I may have to bump it up. It sounds really good.

message 41: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Karen:

Thanks for the update. Take Me, Break Me is one of the many books I have sitting unread on my Kindle. And, even though I said I wouldn't buy anymore for awhile, what a liar I am. I bought three more this morning. I am definitely a bookaholic (if there is a cure I don't want it). (Bought Protege, The Berkeley Method and Close Up and Personal).

I also pimped a little more on Amazon for "The Tied Man." I don't know what happened to me after I read that book, but Finn & Lilith are burned into my soul and I'm out in cyberspace trying to help them one reader at a time.

Wanda I so want to read "The Tied Man". The problem is, I can't find it for Nook. I keep telling myself I need to get a Kindle just for books such as this one that are only available in Kindle format.

message 43: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J Wanda:

I just went to Barnes and Noble and found that "The Tied Man" indeed is not there. Can't believe it. I've corresponded a few times with Tabitha McGowan, the author. She is on Goodreads. I will attempt to reach her and see if she has a solution or an answer. Don't be surprised to find a message from her on this thread.

J Wanda:

Just left a message for Tabitha. I will be in Rochester, Minnesota next week and they have a big Barnes and Noble (none near by teeny, tiny town) and I will casually drop in and give them hell.

Wanda, just want to make sure you've read the other comments. This is a beautiful but dark and brutal book. I believe there will be times when you think you can't go any further but trust me you will never regret finishing it.

message 45: by Tabitha (new)

Tabitha McGowan Hi Judy, Wanda -

At the moment, The Tied Man is tied in(no pun intended) to kindle's KDP Select, which means it is exclusively available for kindle. I've realised this is a bit of a bummer for a lot of readers with a nook, or similar, and I'm really sorry! Basically, because I'm a one-woman show, it's a choice between throwing most of my energy into book 2, 'The Tied Man - Unbound' and selling the first book exclusively through Amazon, or marketing it across several different platforms, with all the energy and focus that would need. The kindle software *can* be downloaded for free for ipad/ipod, pc,mac and smartphone - I know a good number of people have read it through that medium. Not a perfect answer, I know, but possibly better than not being able to access it at all! Warmest regards, Tabitha x

Wanda I loved "Captive in The Dark" and "Seduced in The Dark". I noticed this thread on Goodreads the other day and started following it. I'm not sure what has caused me to lean toward the dark reading material, but I love it!! I've been on the lookout for darker material since reading Love Hurts The Killing of Rose (Love Hurts, #1) by Holly Hood a while ago.

Wanda Judy -- thank you so much for sending the message!

Tabitha -- thank you for the information! Tonight when I get home, I will have to see what I can find online regarding downloading the Kindle software onto my iPod or laptop.

Thanks again, I'm really looking forward to reading this book:)

No problem - I know my stepmum read it via iPod, and had no issues. Hope you enjoy it! (I've got quite a few new reads lined up from this thread myself :D )

J Wanda & Tabitha:

Thanks Tabitha!!

I guess I'll have to cool my response when I go into Barnes and Noble in Rochester. Now I'll just casually pull my Kindle out of my purse and very nicely ask the helpful clerk if they have this book (TTM) in paperback and when he/she tells me B&N doesn't but tries to sell me a Nook, I'll politely ask to have them show it to me on the Nook and take it from there.
