May group read theme is High Tech Treasure Hunt Adventure.

Please make one nomination for a book on this thread by posting a link to the book or book cover on Goodreads. You can do this by clicking add book/author above the text book.

The poll will go up on April 1st.

Keep in mind these books are ineligible because we have already read them as group reads:

Seven Deadly Wonders
Ice Hunt
Excavation
Congo
Beneath the Dark Ice

You can find a longer list of past group reads here:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...

*Please keep in mind that theme nominations can be broad so long as the book captures the spirit of the theme in some substantial way, and the book should have some degree of action/adventure content. We try to give the members some leeway in what they can nominate, so if you want to suggest a book, feel free. The coordinator will say something if the book is clearly ineligible. Also please nominate only books that are readily available (still in print, can be bought new, or in ebook format).

That's a good one Hugh!

OR

Resurrect by Kane Gilmour ?

Rizwan Khalil I'm going to suggest 3 books from 3 authors for 3 different reasons:

The Medusa Stone by Jack Du Brul (because Philip Mercer series is almost as good as Dirk Pitt and criminally underrated, and this one is arguablly one of his best.)

The Ark or The Vault by Boyd Morrison (Here's a new series from a new author in the traditional veins of Cussler. The hero is a Structural Engineer instead of a Marine Engineer like Pitt.)

The Lost Army Of Cambyses by Paul Sussman (This is a bit different as it's situated wholly in Egypt with Egyptian characters, and I'm always intrigued by the exotic Arabian locations.)

I will nominate Black Rain: A Thriller by Graham Brown.

I have to agree on Jack Du Brul and Philip Mercer. I've only read one or two of his books but really enjoy him and the Cussler-esque nature of the books.

One nomination per member, so you'll have to pick the one you want to read the most, Rizwan.

message 10: by Tad (new)

Tad (tottman) | 74 comments I've got both the Du Brul book and the Morrison book in my TBR pile, so I'll nominate The Ark by Boyd Morrison if Rizwan wants to nominate one of the others.

message 11: by Rizwan (new)

Rizwan Khalil What the hell, I'll nominate The Medusa Stone, if only because this one I have in paperback while the others in ebook format, and I always prefer the traditional way.

message 12: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'll nominate The Eternity Artifact by L.E. Modesitt Jr.. Galactic civilization 5,000 years in the future, an artifact that may break the current deadlock, & a bunch of experts, some with mysterious pasts. A thrilling hunt in Modesitt's understated style.

Not a bad choice. I have thinking about this title for a while now.

I have read all the Philip Mercer books and have enjoyed them all. Very similiar to Dirk Pitt, but who cares? Action and excitement all the time. I would love to see a NEW Philip Mercer book come out.

David Dalton | 152 comments Okay, I just read where we can only nomiate one book. I had previously nominated two.

So I'll go with Temple. A standalone Matt Reilly thriller. Two storylines: one in the past and one in the present. Deep in the jungles of South America.

Tad (tottman) | 74 comments There's so many good suggestions here, that I'm already thinking that whatever doesn't win this month, I'm going to suggest for a topic for the following month(Either terrestrial or extraterrestrial archeological thriller.) I've got a Jack McDevitt in mind....

I really enjoyed this book...hope everyone else does too. It's been a while since I read it...might have to do a reread with the group.

David Dalton | 152 comments I am hoping to get this book via a digital library. I have it "On-Hold".
