message 4: by Ayla (new)

Ayla (ex_libris_ad_astra) I loved the ending, only Cassandra Clare would think to end a book like that. Did anyone else come down with a case of book-pression ( you know, where it makes you feel soooo sad that its done) when they realized the series was over?

Taylor Gartman | 2 comments I was depressed because it was like *sigh* it really is over. I mean we could handle another 3 books Cassie! But you know we Are going to see some characters again in City of Heavenly Fire :) OooHh I just can't wait!!

Misha (gravemishy) | 10 comments I really didn't know how to feel about the ending. I was kinda like "So, it's finished".

message 8: by Saghar (new)

Saghar | 1 comments I appreciate that Cassie gave both boys a happy ending, but the fact that the book ended with Tessa and Jem, kind of gave off the message that they are the ideal, and better couple. But at the same time, I think Will had it better since he got the girl he loved, and had a beautiful family, all while sharing the experience with Charlotte and the others. Think about it, although Jem also gets Tessa, it is over a century later and he never got to see his friends with their children and go to parties with them. He was stuck in the Silent City. Which is why it's bittersweet. In general, it just makes me really sad that all of the characters eventually died, but hey, at least they passed with the ones with they loved and had a life full of love and adventure.

Nadia | 5 comments To be HO eat Cassandra Clare was a Ty being a bit nice to us I mean this is the first Time I read a Cassandra Clare book without in the end me being extremely pissed at one character just sobbing or have ing a WTH is going phase so I'm pretty good but cants wait till city of HEAVNLY FIRE SO WE CAN SEE TESSA IN THE TWENTY FIRST CENTRY

message 11: by Claire (new)

Claire (lifefoldedbetweenbooks) I dont think we will see Tessa in City of Heavenly Fire because in the epilogue (which takes place after COHF), Jem mentions that he has quite a story to tell Tessa (referring to Clary, Jace, and friends)...

So I think the only chance we have at seeing Tessa and Jem again is if they make an appearance in The Dark Artifices, which I am crossing my fingers for!

HAHA same here!! I was so content with the ending and how Will was taking Tessa to meet his parents and everything!! THEN in the epilogue it was like DEATH DEATH AND MORE DEATH!!! WILL DIED!! MY HEART HAD SHATTERED WHEN I GOT TO THAT PART!! I was screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"!! I also received some dirty looks from people in the mall (since i was reading it a JCPenny's)> :P Anyway, i would do anything to forget about the epilogue! :( (T_T)(*.*)

Kayla Christ | 19 comments I loved the whole book!! The ending was bittersweet, but I loved it. I had so many feels when I was done. I cried like a little baby and I'm sad it's over, but I hope we can see them again in Heavenly Fire and The Dark Artifices. I'm just in awe of Clare's writing, it's so beautifully done, just amazing!

Kimiko (kawasumi-kimiko) | 288 comments THE EPILOGUE WAS TERRIBLE! IT MADE ME HATE THE AUTHOR! (I don't deal well with sad endings, just leave me be with happy endings. Please.)

loool I know the ending was a bit sad but if it had ended the way we all wanted it would have been a bit cheesy, so i may not have liked Will dying but atleast it was realistic

chinami | 15 comments epilogue was good. my jem is back.

message 28: by Lea (last edited Nov 24, 2016 03:16PM) (new)

Lea Kane | 1 comments I would've preferred far more pages dedicated to Will's happiness rather than a couple paragraphs in the epilogue that were quickly overshadowed by the heartbreaking news of his death.

After three books detailing 5 years of hardship, being cursed, & his desperation to love and be loved, I don't feel the thirst for Will's happiness was satisfied. We barely got a yes to his proposal and then it was 30 years later and everyone was around his deathbed. I feel cheated and because of that I wasn't fully able to appreciate the ending.

I could not help but feel the author was modeling her trilogy to the books Tessa was referring in this quote she made to Will in the Clockwork Prince.

"You know the feeling when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and darkness coming,… but you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.”

That's exactly how I felt reading this series.
