Have you guys been made aware of this?

Exciting News About Goodreads: We're Joining the Amazon Family!

The email about it went to my spam folder, interestingly enough....

I'm nervous. I know it's not a good thing, but I hope it's not as horrible as the participants in the feedback group thread fear.

It does seem to be upsetting most people.

Well it is a done deal so we must move on. Have to wait and see how it really affects us.

I said that this announcement makes me wish I had gone with a Kindle, instead of Nook. I just may switch.

I'm hoping we'll get some covers back on our GR listings, since I presume we will be linked to Amazon's database.

Just hope things don't get too commercial!

Most people are worried about the ownership of the reviews and Amazon's right to manipulate them.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm not sure how I feel about my reviews showing up on Amazon. I'd feel pressured to write better reviews, that's for sure!

I guess it isn't really clear to me what "joining the amazon family" means. Other than some benefit to Kindle users, it seemed that the announcement focused on things that will not change.

What is most perplexing is, about a year ago Amazon gave GoodReads some sort of ultimatum, to which GoodReds refused to comply. In a gesture of independent spirit we took our ball and went home. Now we are making nice with the bully!

Yes, that was my first thought as well. Strange.

Yeah, I know! They must have gotten a good offer!
