Question: is there going to be a Literary Fiction/Women's Fiction category? I didn't see it on the Home Page.

Me: crime/thriller writer. Taco lover. Cheap red wine enthusiast.
Looking forward to the discussions.

Hi, Jenna, I'll look into that. I think you're right, a Literary Fiction category would serve many readers. Thanks for the suggestion.

Looking forward to chatting about new...and old books!

I am an author and a voracious reader. I read and write in mulitple genres, though most know me either for my romance novels or my poetry. My reading tastes are somewhat eclectic.

I wrote a couple of Boomer Lit novels and started a group here on Goodreads to discuss this new genre.
Curious? Come and visit the group (here: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/8...), participate in the debate about this hot new genre, add your views! Rather than mention my own work, just to give you an idea, here are classic examples of Boomer Lit: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, About Schmidt and more recently The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, a debut novel that was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize last year. It's still going strong, if you haven't read it yet, you're in for a treat, here's the link:
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

Happy reading!
And, by the way, you'll discover that Boomer Lit sells: there's no secret to that, after all baby boomers, clocking in at 78 million (all those born between 1946 and 1964) constitute the single largest demographic and they control 70% of America's wealth. There are people who buy books and read them!

My protagonist is in her 50's. ;)

My name is Scott Alexander Baker, I am an author of several full length books, and I write regularly for online and offline sources in many areas of interest.
I love fiction and non-fiction, but really admire a few authors in particular.
Neil Gaiman and all that he does,
F. Scott Fitzgerald (But mostly his Short stories)
More recently Dan Brown.
And I only hope to create works that Maurice Sendak managed so well.
What a mind!!!

That should be Boomer Lit! There's a group discussing Boomer Lit, go take a look if you don't know it: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/8... We love to discuss the fine points of Boomer Lit!

I write gritty, apocalyptic YA fiction with strong heroines fighting side by side with the heroes.

Hello, I am Bernice, a journalist and an author. I am happy to part of this group.

Thanks for the invite, Claude. I just joined. It looks great. :)

Thanks Moderator-Christopher for the invite.
Let me know if you need help spending your new millions...mwahahah!

I'm Toni and I'm an author who lives in New Zealand. We're at the bottom of the globe (yes, down under Australia, LOL) but it's a gorgeous place to live.
I like reading angst riddled contemporary novels with twisted and tormented characters. Some of that tends to find its way into my romance - which makes life interesting for my characters and my readers :)
Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Toni

Thanks, Dianne, for the invitation! I am a reader, a writer, and a traveler. I'm a big fan of contemporary fiction and the classics. I look forward to hearing others' perspectives and suggestions on great books!

I love talking about books with other readers, so I just know this group will be a whole lotta cool!

I look forward to following this new group. I'm a first time novel writer, but have written Church music for over thirty years. My novel is a thriller and is self published. On Facebook, Goodreads etc., I go by Joseph, but feel free to call me Joe. I read all genres. My collection of books has increased since I bought my Kindle last year.

Hi.

I enjoy reading a wide variety of genres, but fantasy/horror/supernatural are my favorites.

Question: is there going to be a Literary Fiction/Women's Fiction category? I didn't see it on the Home Page."
I, too, am interested in this category.

I love so many different genres, it is difficult to pick one. It depends upon my mood when I am choosing the next book to read.
Mysteries and thrillers of all types are high on my list. Give me a horror story or historical fiction and I love it. Cozies are great light reads, but sometimes I feel like a classic such as the Great Gatsby or To Kill A Mockingbird.

My personal tastes run towards Romantic Suspense but I read a pretty wide range of genres. I love a good page turner.
