Annabelle I love Sirius Black and I hate the fact that he dies in this book (and in general) because he had lived he could have come out of hiding because that is the night the minister found out Dumbledore wasn't lying about Voldemort being back and that would lead Fudge to believe Dumbledore had been telling the truth all along!

Mayomouse (mayomouse) | 612 comments I completely agree with you! Although I love the book, I hate how Sirius has to die!!!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought it added to Harry's struggle.

message 5: by Annabelle (new)

Annabelle Yes but that was his only live kind of family. its so horrible how everyone he loves dies!!!! But i do agree that it adds to his struggle... and my hate for Bellatrix

The Order of the Phoenix was my least favorite installment. I found it slow-paced, with loads of scenes that could be easily added to the other books, and some parts of it bored me. And, of course, the death of Sirius.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

This was my least favorite, too!!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Huh. :) I mean, honestly, wonderful book, but probably my least favorite. This one and the sixth were just slightly less to me.

Cady (halfblood26) | 22 comments This one was my favorite and my second was probably Deathly Hallows. I didn't like Chamber of Secrets. But I love OotP. So much angst. Lol

I know what you mean out of all my friends that have started reading the series but stopped, they all quit at the 5th book and claimed that it is boring. It is still my favorite though.

Mayomouse (mayomouse) | 612 comments Funny, my friends say the same thing. I mean, in every best seller series, there's always that one book which makes ppl stop reading the series!

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep. :( Unfortunately.

Same for me, this has always been my favorite book because of all of the emotions it gives the reader. You fall in love with the characters, you mourn when they die, you jump with joy when they are the victor. Obviously the other Harry Potter books do this, but for some unknown reason this one really stands out to me.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't like this book as much as the others. Harry was just so dark and slightly scary. He was always yelling and stuff, it kind of ruined the whole book. It's obvious that J.K Rowling was going through a hard time while she was writing this book. I love Dumbledore's Army though! And I really like the battle scene at the end of the book. (view spoiler)

What I was going to say was, Harry is so depressed and grumpy during this book, which is annoying, but his being moody shows a different side of how he reacts to problems in his life. Which kind of reveals more about his personality, I guess?

message 19: by Elysia (new)

Elysia (elysia_rae) Are we not going to talk about how much we hated Umbridge in the book? Because I think everyone hates her! Oh yeah, I was extremely upset when Sirius died, it was so unfair! Of course Harry hasn't had the most fair life in the books but I think you know what I mean.

^This book in a nutshell. XD

Emma (hghpfan) | 23 comments This was such a good book! But Umbridge is such a terrible person! I also cried so hard when Sirius died:(

message 22: by Anna (new)

Anna (avoidingparadox) | 3 comments Whenever I talk to Harry Potter fans, most of them say that they did not like this book just because Sirius Black died, and because Umbridge is literally the most annoying character ever created by any author. But, this was actually my favorite book. I could not put it down.

message 23: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahsmanyhobbies) I love it of course, DA is the best!!!

I agree, I read this book in just two days! I read the book under my desk, during lunch at school, and on the bus ride home! Sure Umbridge was bad and Sirius died, but that is what makes the book so good (not that it didn't upset me that Sirius died)! Umbridge filled me up with anger and Sirius's death made me cry, it proves how much this book makes you feel. :)

Angie (angiejh) | 5 comments A bit of a random question but...
Who do you think would have made a better fatherly figure to Harry, Sirius or Lupin?
I love them both so much and just can't decide!

message 26: by Annabelle (new)

Annabelle Lupin would have made the best father in my opinion. He is more logical than the rest and thinks about his actions while James and Sirius seem to just act

Michaela | 8 comments As much as I loved the 5th book I think I was slightly turned off by how angsty Harry was.

message 28: by Jazzy (new)

Jazzy (stairstepjitters) | 155 comments Angsty, angsty, angsty. I have to be in the right state of Darcy-esque moodiness to read and enjoy this book properly.

message 29: by Imogen (new)

Imogen Reeves (purplegems3) | 16 comments the Order of the Phoenix was sort of the same as the Goblet of Fire for me. I liked how Harry was expelled from Hogwarts, how they included Metamorphmagus & Professor Trelawney's Prophecy.

message 30: by whylime (new)

whylime (whylimemco) Honestly I think the angst made it more real. It reminded us how human Harry was, and how much of an emotional struggle he was going through. Plus, we all love a sassy Potter, don’t we :)

message 31: by Kateblue (new)

Kateblue My favorite of them all.

message 32: by M (new)

M (bookish__________) I am also one of the few that thinks OotP is the best book (I haven't read Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows yet so it might change). I hated the death of Sirius and cried for almost thirty minutes, I had to pu the book down to not throw it across my room more than once because of despicable Umbridge (and sometimes because of Percy), and I did think that Harry was super annoying with all his angst. But at the same time, there was so many great things about it. I loved Luna, Ron, Dobby and the idea of having Dumbledore's Army. I liked the Order of the Phoenix. I really liked Neville and he was promoted to one of my favorite HP characters.

The book is full of emotions, and I think that what makes it great.
