I'm sorry. I am so, so sorry.
This is the most feels-y thing of all time.

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) There's a part of me that was fangirly sad, and then the Sherlockian in me was ecstatic. BY GOLLY THEY OUTDID SIR ACD! BLESS THEM! BLESS THEM! So yeah, I'm very conflicted about this episode.

message 7: by Emalyn (new)

Emalyn I honestly cried for 30 minutes after this episode, even though u find out everything, I was still a mess and had to resort to funny Sherlock posts on Tumblr

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

So I was talking to my mom, and I said: "So, mum, you know Sherlock dies in the season 2 finale?"
And she says, "He dies? But I thought there was another season?"
And I say, "Well, yeah, but..."
"They can't not have Sherlock. It'd defeat the point of calling it Sherlock. They'd have to call it Watson."
And I was like:

message 10: by Bekah (new)

Bekah I nearly cried. Then I saw Sherlock at the grave site and was like "OH MY GOSH HE'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

lol @ mustache

My depression comes from the fact that Andrew Scott said in an interview that Moriarty is dead and not returning. I almost can't believe this--after all, how does Sherlock exist without his shadow? Then again, it is that most-evil Moffat pulling the show's strings, and he's unrelenting in his decisions.

WTB Moriarty and Uncle Bobby resurrections

You had me laughing pretty hard there at mustache. Seems to be that's the only thing that the fandom really cares about at the moment.

I saw that interview! I paused it and pouted for awhile when it was confirmed. But there would be a pretty big uproar from the original ACDbook fans because (spoiler)

in the books that really was Moriarty's downfall and he really dies. Although Holmes does end up with his hands full with Moran--Moriarty's right-hand man--during and after the great hiatus~
(end of spoiler)

Sherlock in the books is defiantly bored after the 'final problem' as Jim called it. Poor guy. I'm sure that many fanficers out there have made countless fics about how Holmes would drug himself more than usual because he was extra bored! lolz-
I agree with you totally though~
It may just be Moffat being all meh again and messing with us. Darn him!
BUt what made me really sad and almost sure that they won't bring back Moriarty is another interview I saw.
They gave us 3 words that provided hints on the next 3 episodes of season 3 "Sherlock."
Rat
Bow
wedding
My guesses..."The Giant Rat of Sumatra." which ACD teased us with many times but never actually did...hmph- ACD can be almost as cruel as Moffat sometimes!
"wedding'...my best guess would be
(spoiler?)

John's wedding. Married some girl named Mary that Sherlock helped on a case called the "Sign of the Four." He left Holmes all alone!!! Holmes was devastated~

(end of spoiler)
And "bow"
This one is the saddest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
"His Last Bow"
nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!
Now I'm almost sure that the next season will be the last!
It's the end of an era.....

message 22: by J.E. (new)

J.E. Alexander (authorjea) | 5 comments It very well could be the last season given how British tv series work. It's unfortunate that Sherlock wouldn't go-out with Moriarty; makes however they end the series feel anticlimactic (unless Moriarty left videos or some other kind of 'Lazarus' trope that lets them convincingly bring the character back).

However... we could always hope that Sherlock goes the same way of Doctor Who and is such a cash cow that they keep it going several more series. I doubt it though. Cumby and Bilbo are just too big of stars now to stay attached to a serial. And heavens knows those episodes must be expensive to produce.

I heard an interview where Benedict Cumberbatch said he could get in trouble for saying this but he is signed up for a season 4 and 5. Moffat did what I call 'Damage Control' after the interview saying they really do not have it planned that far.

I've watched this scene over and over, and I bawl.every.time. I love imagining how John is going to flip in the third season when Sherlock comes back. He'll be so happy!

Either that or he'll, you know, punch him again.

January 19 is the US release date. No date has been announced for the UK, but it will be earlier than the US date.

You have quite the well thought out theory!! I have heard several theories similar to this one, but you include more detail about everything. Now I want to watch it again and look for all the details you point out.

One more thing to add to your theory. John gets a call saying that Mrs. Hudson is hurt, but she is actually fine. I think this is to distract John and get him out of the way so Sherlock and Molly can set up for the fall.

I believe it's called a 'mournstache' as well. :) And, SO MANY THEORIES! I defiantly believe Molly had something to do with Sherlock and the fall, he did go to her before meeting with Moriarty.

And I kinda wish Moriarty was still alive as well. :(

I hate the mustache too. Martian looks soooo much better with out it!! I saw an EmergencyAwesome video were the guy says the mustache is only in the first episode and Watson shaves it after Sherlock comes back. That is the only thing that has made the mustache bearable for me. And it better be right!

Just a side note, does anyone else find the trailers really lacking? Maybe it is just the way Brit TV does things, but the trailers are so...so...dull, boring, uninteresting.
