johanna (jo) (johannad_m) | 7675 comments So - books or movies ... which was your favourite of the three? The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, or The Return of the King? Looking forward to your answers!

message 2: by Victoria (last edited Apr 09, 2013 09:01PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Victoria Scofield (vicki_s) | 8 comments Hard choice.

I've watched FotR the most since it came out when I was 9 and that's how I was introduced (my sister is to blame). But TT was the most exciting. RotK makes me cry and has the most of Faramir, who happens to be my favorite. Plus it's pretty exciting and Eowyn gets to kick butt.

Eh...Return of the King? Depends on my mood. Dang it, they're all so freaking good!

Selma O. | 42 comments You can't ask a mother wich one of her children she loves the most!!!
But I guess I prefer Return of the King, with the battle of Minas Tirith, it's my favorite!

message 4: by johanna (jo), Marchioness Hobbit (new) - rated it 5 stars

johanna (jo) (johannad_m) | 7675 comments Yes! Ugh, I was so disappointed that they cut out the Scouring ... that was awesome, in the book. I expected them at least to put it in the extended editions ... But the films were already very long, I suppose. They killed him off in The Two Towers.

message 5: by Haley (new)

Haley Brown | 4 comments id have to say the first one definately!

message 6: by johanna (jo), Marchioness Hobbit (new) - rated it 5 stars

johanna (jo) (johannad_m) | 7675 comments Nice:)

message 7: by Holly (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) I really loved The Two Towers. Mainly because I love Rohan, and that's where like all of it is centred around.

(Plus I absolutely love the 'Riders of Rohan' music. It's up there in my top played tracks on my iPod. (I have an overwhelming number of soundtracks... I really should sort through them)...

*fireworks* *applause* *confetti*

WHOOO!! Another Two Towers lover, Holly! :D I love both the book and the film best ... and the Rohan theme is magical. Seriously. I love it. I'm learning it on the piano:)

message 9: by Holly (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) I really have to get back into playing the piano...

message 10: by Selma (new)

Selma O. | 42 comments I love listening to the soundtracks too, I have a lot of them in my phone, but my favorite is Gollum's Song, Emiliana's voice is so beautiful.

You realise it's all been worth it when you can play a LotR theme:)

They are, they're lovely. Interesting choice! :)

message 13: by Cameron (new)

Cameron Moore | 1 comments I like the Return of the king book and movie the best because of the action scenes. It's not just talk.

message 14: by johanna (jo), Marchioness Hobbit (new) - rated it 5 stars

johanna (jo) (johannad_m) | 7675 comments None of them are just talk:) But The Return of the King was pretty epic, was it not? :D

message 15: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) | 12768 comments love them all!!!!!

Oliver (oliverthereader) | 164 comments Tough question! Picking only one as a favorite is like choosing between breathing oxygen, eating, and sleeping. You kind of need all three to survive :)

I honestly love all three books and movies equally. I liked the beginning of the FotR movie when we got to see some of what life is like in the Shire. It seems so much fun and I almost want to live there myself. I liked the Gollum scenes and Rohan in TTT, and all of the action in the RotK, especially Legolas and Gimli's victim counting competition. Also like others have mentioned, the sountrack is abolutely amazing in all three movies!!!

I agree! Really, they're all amazing:) I love your reasons, too! The Fellowship has the best Shire scenes (<3), and Gollum's dialogue is hilarious and wonderful.

M L Nunnally | 37 comments Strangely enough, They all have one favorite scene that makes it hard for me to decide. I especially like the last march of the ents.

message 19: by C (new) - rated it 5 stars

C (beyondtheveil) | 651 comments The Return of the King. It really did make me weep, even when I read it as a third-grader.

message 20: by L.Y. (new)

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) | 1907 comments Impossibru! :O Johanna, why are you making us pick?

message 21: by Ananya (new)

Ananya (ananyashenoy) I really liked the Fellowship and the Return of the King. The Two Towers was ok.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

For books, The Fellowship or Return.
For movies, RETURN OF THE KING HANDS DOWN

message 23: by johanna (jo), Marchioness Hobbit (new) - rated it 5 stars

johanna (jo) (johannad_m) | 7675 comments :D Good choices! I'm beginning to think I just love the book as a whole . . . I re-read some parts of the Fellowship on the 22nd and remembered how much I adored it . . . So I'm not sure.
I really don't know anymore xD

message 24: by David (new)

David (LitGeek47) | 12 comments Like the others I have a had time choosing. With some thought, however I would have to go with the Fellowship/Return of the King. The begining with the shire in its glory, and at the end when it is returned to it's glory and more. Yet there is a bittersweet feeling to it because it will never be the same after the war. It always reminds me of the Elves bittersweet feelings of the end of the rings. Nothing will ever be the same. SO I guess I will have o say the Return of the King is my favorite...Then again...

message 25: by johanna (jo), Marchioness Hobbit (new) - rated it 5 stars

johanna (jo) (johannad_m) | 7675 comments I might have to say that, too . . . Oh, I can't choose! *flaps hands* They're all perfect. One without the others loses its beauty.

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) | 1174 comments The Return of the King all the way

message 27: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) | 12768 comments How am I to choose? They all have their moments...

message 28: by Abigail (new) - added it

Abigail Ng (abigailhopeng) I love them all.
The Fellowship of the Ring: I personally loved the fellowship. It made me so sad when they parted.
The Two Towers: I love how you get to see more of Gollum, as well as a budding friendship between Gimli and Legolas, along with their competitive nature.
The Return of the King: I love it.

All of them are amazing.

Yeah, me, too.

Jazzy (stairstepjitters) | 155 comments http://media.tumblr.com/d51ec190ee380... = Me trying to pick a favorite book. One does not simply pick a favorite Lord of the Rings book.

As for movies, extended edition of Return of the King is excellent, although The Fellowship is wonderful because of how well they established Middle Earth.

message 34: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (rjscottie) Book wise: Can I say the hobbit? It has so many good memories for me. If not.....this sounds weird but, the two towers.
Movie wise, Return of the king wins. There's something so....Amazing about it. Plus the battle scenes were some of the best in all of cinematic history

message 35: by Tiana (new)

Tiana | 21 comments For me, I would say the "The Two Towers" was my favorite movie. I love all the movies but that one keeps me the most excited(plus I know most of the script by heart)! I don't think I can pick a favorite book however.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Such a question is simple. The extended edition of the Return of the King features Saruman falling through the air to his hilariously planned death issued by Legolas, so the stated is best.

Doctor Who Fan I♥♥DW | 389 comments I think book 1... but book 2... Or the first half of book 3... I DON'T KNOW DON'T ASK ME SUCH HARD QUESTIONS

message 39: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 14 comments I love the Fellowship Of The Rings the best. It's the movie not the book.

message 40: by Jo (new)

Jo Drye (jodrye) FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING (for movie)
But for books... omg don’t make me pick

Doctor Who Fan I♥♥DW | 389 comments I just gotta say, I'm super hype for next semester because I'm taking a class that is literally called Lord of the Rings. It's a 399 level English class, but I hope that my interest in the topic will allow me to actually enjoy writing essays about stuff.

Matthew My favourite book and movie is the Fellowship of the Ring.

Isabella Clare | 24 comments I don’t have a favorite!!!!!! I love them all to much!!! Although, the only reason I don’t like Return Of The King, is because it had to end!!

message 44: by tammy (new)

tammy (tamutheshamu) I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan, so obviously I enjoy all of the films and books; however, if I had to pick, The Fellowship of the Ring would be my favorite book out of the trilogy, and The Return of the King would be my pick for favorite movie.

message 45: by kenna (new)

kenna I still have yet to read the books but my favorite movie's gotta be Fellowship of the Ring!

message 46: by Penny (new)
