Hi Kirstin. Yes it's a great book and thought of by many as the best ever in this genre.

I have some issues with the book, and don't think it's King's best, but I might say that it's his most frightening. Pennywise made me avoid drains for years! Ironically, though, it was a lot of the background and side stories in that book that had the feel of a real incident and were just so disturbing. Undoubtedly one of the most effective horror novels I've read.


I, too,always slept with at least a nightlight on, so I sympathize, empathize, and have compassion with Mr. King. Which makes my book choice ironic: It is the story that freaked me out...that and The Shining. I had to check under the beds and in the closets for awhile after those.
