The Dear One

The symbol that represent a character in the The Dear One is megaphone. For example, Rebecca asked Feni is she can call her boyfriend Danny and demands to get coins from her. This shows that Rebecca was being bossy by demanding Feni to give her coins and trying to make and trying to make contact with her boyfriend Danny by convincing him that Feni's family is rich. Another example, Feni told Rebecca what Afeni (Feni's first name) means The Dear One. Rebecca replied in a bossy way by saying really the dear one what does that even mean like who said your a dear one now dear fetch me some water. This shows that Rebecca is being mean about what Feni's name might and was being bossy by letting Feni fetch her water.

Jamilah B | 37 comments In the fiction novel, Defriended, by Ruth Baron, a symbol that best describes one of my characters, Lacey, is skull and bones [R][A]. For example, Jason looked Lacey up on Google and found many results of her being dead, and skull and bones usually represent death [F]. Therefore skull and bones is a symbol that represents Lacey because she's no longer living[T]. Another example is that Lacey has been acting suspicious when Jason asks to meet up with her in real life [A]. Therefore this shows that Lacey is dead and skull and bones is a symbol that represents her [T].

Andy Chen | 44 comments In Henry Winterfeld's realistic fiction novel, Detective in Togas, the symbol that best describes the protagonist, Caius, is a brain. For example, Caius gets straight A's in every single class and he won the $20 deal from finding a gold block in 3 cups that were faced down. This shows the symbol for Caius should be a brain because it symbolizes his intelligence and how he knew everything and could do anything. Another example is Caius invented his own type of fruit blending machine for his science project which he called "Blend Mach Pro". What the blending machine does is simply plugging the plug and putting any fruits in the blender and press the "start" button. Finally, the blending machine blends in delicious fruit juice. This shows why I chose the brain as the best symbol for Caius is because he was as intelligent as Benjamin Franklin, who invented light, and Caius created his own blending machine. Therefore, this shows why the symbol that best describes Caius is a brain,

Ilijah A | 40 comments A symbol that best describes a symbol for Bart in my book "Bullyville" by Francine Prose is a baseball glove. I think this is a good symbol because for example, the main character Bart lost his dad in 911 and usually father and son play baseball together so a baseball glove seems acceptable. This shows a symbol for Bart is a baseball glove. Another example is that Bart loved his dad so to lose him meant everything and he is brokenhearted devastated about his fathers death. This shows that a symbol that represents Bart is a baseball glove.

Aaron | 22 comments The symbol that would best describe my character in The Alchemist is a book. For example, Santiago knows how to use a lot of big words when talking to people, and he wants to learn a few languages by reading them in a book but he is to poor (in the beginning) to buy the books. This shows that he learned a lot of big words from reading books, and wants to expand his knowledge by getting more books to read and learn from. Another example, is that he does a lot of things with books other than reading them. When he finished reading a book sometimes he would re-read it again. He would also use the books as pillows when he would sleep on the floor. This shows that Santiago uses books a lot in his daily life and also reads them .

Sydney Mok (SydneyMok) | 43 comments In the book The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, a symbol that would best fit my protagonist, Hazel Grace, is a heart. This symbol fits Hazel because she really likes a boy she meets at Support Group for people with cancer and she is a very friendly and caring girl. For example, when Hazel first went to Support Group she met a boy named Augutus Waters. He is in remission in cancer and only has one leg. Hazel immediately falls for him and they get really close to each other. They read books together, share their thoughts with each other and even went to Amsterdam together. This shows that Hazel's symbol is a heart because she likes someone. They always spend time together and Augutus feels the same way about Hazel too. Another example, is when Hazel showed her being friendly to a little girl asking about her oxygen tank she carries around because she has a cancer that has to do with her lungs. The little girl was curious and asked Hazel what it was and instead of getting annoyed she explained what it helped her with and even showed it to her. This shows that Hazel has a heart and is very friendly so the symbol that best fits Hazel is a heart.

Wesley | 50 comments In Michael Scott's The Sorceress a symbol that best represents the twins, Sophi and Josh Newman, is a dove. this symbol best fits the twins because they are hope for restoring the world or destroying it. For example, the twins can save the Earth with their pure and rare auras which bring hope to good magicians. This means they are more powerful than other wizards even without training. They are so powerful that they are the chosen twins to destroy the world for Dark Elders, one of the main antagonist or save it from the Dark Elders. Another reason is they give hope for the Dark Elders. This means the Dark Elders intend to use the twins to destroy the world and let the Dark Elders rule the world. They could bring hope for different reasons and for different people.

Bryan | 41 comments One symbol that would best describe Lakshmi is a weeping willow. For example a harsh Himalayan monsoons wash away all of their family's crops and that her father now must look for a job to support their family. This shows that Lakshmi is like a weeping willow because when the monsoon took out their crops, her father had no choice but to find a job and he look sad while he was doing it and that made Lakshmi sad. Another example is that was that she has been sold into prostitution. This shows that she is like a weeping willow because the moment she went to her journey to India she found out that she was sold and that made her have a shocked expression on her face.

Kiana | 6 comments A symbol that represents my protagonist in Stephanie Meyer's fictional novel, Breaking Dawn is it's cover. On the cover it's all black but the "spotlight" is on two chess pieces, a red pawn, which is tucked away in the back, and a white queen placed bravely infront for everyone to see. I think the two chess pieces represent Bella before and after she became a vampire. For example, in the first Twilight book, Bella was quiet, kept to herself and wore baggyish clothes. She was a defenseless, shy mortal who tried hiding away from the world. But after Edward turned her into a vampire, not only was she imortal like her husband, but she was more confident in herself and didn't hide from the world like she use to.She was the strongest vampire in the Cullen coven now and didnt't feel defenesless and now felt like she belonged somewhere. Before she was turned into a vampire she couldn't help Edward and his family fight the volturi because she was mortal and not as strong as them since they were all vampires. Another example is when Bella was mortal she was full of blood and blood is red, just like the red pawn on the cover, and when she was transformed she was "crystal white" and not a single drop of blood was in her anymore. This shows that Stephanie Meyer's uses the red and white chess pieces on the cover of her book to represent Bella through her journey through the Twilight Saga books.

Corey | 43 comments One symbol that represents Jess in Bridge to Terabithia is a wolf. For example, Jess didnt care any one but himself. He didnt really care about the new kingdom at first. This shows that he wants to be alone by himself and only wants everything. Another example is when he runs really fast to try to escape from the monsters. When he gets home, he runs over the bridge. This shows that he can hide from monsters and run like the wolf.

Yamil Cifuentes | 40 comments In Mike Lupica's realistic fiction novel, "Hot Hand," the symbol the describe Billy Raynor is challenged (Restate). The reason why I chose challenged as a symbol is because Billy tries to accomplish tasks and he will not try to slack off (Answer). For example, when Billy started basketball practice, Billy became distracted because his father is the coach and Billy finds that embarrassing, but Billy did not let his father distracted him, so Billy decided to do the best he can (For example). This shows that Billy is a challenge person, because he says that his father being the coach, it is really distracting, but Billy make sure it didn't interfere for what he loves (This shows/proves/etc). Another example, when Billy got dehydrated and tired during a basketball game, Billy put to much pressure to do his best and not pass it. In the end, Billy won the team (Another example). This proves that Billy is tough and he is not gonna let his weak spots interfere in his games (this shows/proves/etc).

Kenjo | 41 comments In Shaquille o'Neal's autobiography, Shaq Uncut, the symbol that best describes Shaq is a centipede. For example, Shaq's ability to be able to do be a policeman, NBA player and rapper is represented by the dozens of legs a centipede holds. This shows that he can do more than one task at a time and yet still be very consistent in his work for each of his occupations just like how a centipede's many legs can move and function at once. Another example is his tough style of play which many players feared. His ferocious dunks on tall centers and scoring plays was a dangerous part of the LA Lakers offense. This shows that peoples fear of bugs especially centipedes, in comparison can be compared to Shaq's skill and style of play on the court. Therefore, a symbol that best represents Shaquille o'Neal is a centipede.

Aaron | 29 comments The symbol that represents my protagonist Will is Gallant. For example Will has a quest to save everyone from the most terrifying house called Fort Eden only Will knows the cure. This shows that Will would risk his life to save and cure everybody. Another example is that he has to go through lots of dangerous things to save and cure all of his freinds. This shows that he is gallant because he is never going to give up on getting a cure for his freinds until then he has a long way to go.
