I think the first thriller I remember reading is "The murders in the rue Morgue" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Murd... (spoilers), a short-story by EA Poe. I also really enjoyed books by Mary Higgins Clark when I was a teen (but I am sure they are not as scary as today's thrillers).

I just read a review of this -- it looks really really good! And it got praise from Stephen King, which seems like the ultimate in a thriller recommendation!

I read this book a few months back - it's definitely a good read! The storyline twists & turns a lot - you're never too sure what's going to happen.

My work book is Ancestry by Albert Wendt, a collection of short stories which I am enjoying. My home book is The Parihaka Woman by Witi Ihimaera. At the moment it's so engrossing, I'm taking any time at all that I can nab to read it! Dying of anxiety!

I r..."
ohhhh, I am going to try this book as I love thrillers. thank you

He he he, so did I and in fact I think I still have the whole collection. I do not like her daughters (Carol) writing as much, but they are probably tame compared to todays thrillers.

I still think "The other Boleyn Girl" was the best of her series!
Does anyone else agree?

Me! I reeeaaally enjoyed The Other Bloeyn Girl. SO good.

I liked "Open" too. I'm not at all a sports fan but that was one sports biography that I found fascinating.
I've just started "Flight Behaviour" by Barbara Kingsolver.
