Little Pete, I think was made to not offend the autistic. He is all powerful, and created their little world. When he dies, it's an escape from his autistic body, and he is stronger.

Yes, I believe that the author should provide an accurate depiction. That all goes along with creating a believable character, and it's just as important when the character is autistic.

Yeah, I think an author should be responsible for what he/she writes. After all, he/she has control over their pen and/or computer.
