It seems we are in the middle of a fairytale re-telling cycle. With Cinder, Scarlett, the little red riding hoods, and Rapunzel coming out this year. What is your take on it...

I for one, LOVE it! I am a huge fan of fairytales, and have been excited to see this trend com forward. Nothing like a happy ending, with a few dark twists and turns along the way. I have a few already in the wings waiting to be read, what about you?

What's your favorite, and which would you like to see re-told?

Its cool, but its just so damn soap operaish. It feels really dragged out, and some of the drama stuff really feels like a daytime soap opera.

Having whined about it, I must admit it was entertaining and enthralling enough to keep me watching the entire first season.

It must not be too bad if you can get me to sit and watch every episode of it on Netflix.

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 131 comments It kind of annoys me, bringing to mind the theory that there is nothing new under heaven. But shouldn't we at least strive for something new? Yet as I say that, one of my favorite books growing up was Briar Rose, the re-telling of sleeping beauty. The author at least found a creative way of re-telling the story, setting it in Germany during WWII and simply took elements from Sleeping Beauty and wove them into this young girl's life. It was its own story, harkening back to a classic, but not trying to re-tell the same story in a flashy new way.

Cynthia Stacey (cynthia_stacey) | 16 comments I love the re telling of old stories. The series Once Upon a Time is an awesome story where the characters in the story books are cursed and sent to live in our world. The stories are not exactly like what we heard as kids but very entertaining. All 4 of my kids enjoy the show.

Janeal Falor I love the retellings, when they are done in a way that brings something new and exciting to the story. Like the Cinder. Cyborg Cinderella? What a great twist! Still waiting to get my hands on Scarlet. Robin McKinley and Shannon Hale are two other authors I really enjoy their retellings.

Cynthia - The Once Upon a Time show is fantastic! They've really done a good job with the plot and characters. Love where they're taking the show.
