Rayna | 1785 comments well here we go all.....lets get a good debate going for my partner in fang Jevron!

So this question is posed??????

Lets say a vampire offered you this choice; that he or she would turn you into one of the undead, how many of you would say yes?

Powers beyond belief, flight, hypnotism, unreal strength, all your bodily 'flaws' corrected, etc....

(This question works on the POPULAR myth, not that you'd only need blood, but that you'd be all encompassing, all powerful......)

But....

You'd have to watch friends and family die, be alone MOST of the time, be hunted by others, etc.....

So....

Who would say YES to that vampire who wanted to pass on the Dark Gift? (to coin an Ann Rice phrase)

what do you think? Would you or wouldn't you??

Rayna | 1785 comments Here is the realist in me coming out!

No matter how much i like or dislike my life......i DONT want to keep living it forever!

Imperfections and a soul!.....thats what makes people beautiful, appearances are just that! While one may be nice to look at they may have absolutely nothing going for them AT ALL!

Powers......well that one is debatable and i guess it depends on what your definition of a vampire is......which we ALL have different takes on and will start an all out riot which has a thread of its own already......laugh

I guess my long winded answer is NO i would not, 1 lifetime is exhausting enough thank you very much! As much as i get lost in my stories and adore my fanged friends i would not like to be one, not even in the slightest!

Now the floor is yours.....lol

Jevron McCrory (jevronmccrory) You are nothing if not efficient, Rayna!

To walk this sick world, and be more powerful than the scumbag, jerk off, douche bags that make this place unbearable for the rest of us? Count me in!

I'd attack drug dens, fully vamped out, and make sure dealers saw my face before I ripped their throats out.

I'd find pedos and drain them dry, then have to spit their blood out 'cause, you know, genes and what not.....

I'd find every rapist and dangle them from buildings, convincing them that I'd given them the power of flight - before dropping them.

None of my family or friends would ever suffer again. Sure, I'd have to watch them all die of old age, but the sheer 'insurance' I could offer them, as well as experience a level of real life mortality could never offer me, would be worth the price of admission alone.

Sign me up.

Rayna | 1785 comments Very noble of you......its killing me though, you must answer a question for me?????

when i say vampire.....you say????

message 5: by Jevron (new)

Jevron McCrory (jevronmccrory) THE LOST BOYS!

And you haven't seen it, I'd rather not talk to you anymore.

I mean undead, need blood to survive, looks human most of the time, powers are limited to overly strong, a form of hypnotism, different visage when 'vamped out', etc.....

message 6: by Jevron (new)

Jevron McCrory (jevronmccrory) Oh and flight!

Big one, that one.

message 7: by Rayna (new)

Rayna | 1785 comments Okay, I'm insulted now!

Of course I know Lost Boys! I even have the book, which btw is my pride and joy (just ask Dan how much I love my find)!

(hugs Rayna)

message 10: by Rayna (new)

Rayna | 1785 comments So with your description.....are your vamps souless evil beings of the night? Sunlight....effect or no effect?

message 11: by Rayna (new)

Rayna | 1785 comments i have a point promise, answer and i will get back on track!

message 12: by Jevron (new)

Jevron McCrory (jevronmccrory) Sunlight?

I have wrote vamps that simply get tired in daylight, like owls, but don't burst into flames.

For purity sake, I would accept a vulnerability to sunlight, if that was part of the deal.

message 13: by Rayna (new)

Rayna | 1785 comments that was part 2 of the question......part 1 is more important

message 14: by Jevron (new)

Jevron McCrory (jevronmccrory) What was part 1 again?

message 15: by Rayna (new)

Rayna | 1785 comments Are your vamps evil and soulless?

message 16: by Jevron (new)

Jevron McCrory (jevronmccrory) That's technically TWO questions.

Evil?

Hmmm.....

Dare I bring up the 'nature' element?

Is a tiger evil for killing to survive? Vampires need blood.

Soulless?

If you mean, no conscience, no sense of what they are doing? No. Not at all.

If you mean, any gravitas of God - then yes. Hundred percent yes.

I would definitely say yes. But not just to have my flaws corrected. But to be able to learn the works a thousand times over. To lay to waste these murderers who get of Scott free, breakfast would be pedophiles, lunch and dinner child killers, dessert hmmm, depends in my mood. Spend a century or two as a lover, the next a heartbreaker. Write a million novels, create a few vampire movies. Bathe in the blood of my enemies and anyone who reminds me of them. That's only the beginning!

There us so much in life that I want to do and c. More than I could ever accomplish in just one lifetime. Or have the courage, time, or money, to do in this one.

Reading over the comments on this topic brings some thoughts to mind...

I have thought about this before..."What if I were offered the 'dark gift'"???

Well, let's see...I'm going to be honest and say that there are a handful of people I don't think belong here that I would take out, and maybe a few I would make Immortal. Or cursed.

But what is your defintion of a vampire? What would they be like if they really existed? Well, the descriptions vary from culture to culture, mostly they are reanimated corpses that feed off the life force of a living individual.

So, would I do it? Well like I said, I have a list of people that I would take out if I became a vampire. But wouldn't that be......Evil? YES...IT WOULD BECAUSE VAMPIRES ARE SUPPOSED to be EVIL!!! They are soulless, bloodsucking demons from beyond the grave. So I would tell that vampire to go fuck themselves and then shove a wooden stake right through his/her heart!

@Rayna-I found that Lost Boys book.

Yes, I found The Lost Boys book a while back on Ebay. I know there was a problem at the post office, but...are you still going to send those Vampire Diaries books?

laugh, i didnt mean it to be 2 questions but i will continue.....you see.

Needing blood doesnt make one evil it just makes ones diet choices rather morbid. Soulless and conscience are not mutually exclusive but i see your point.

Trust me there are alot of reasons why vampirism would be cool and thrilling. However, eventhough i have read many authors takes on what a vampire should or should not be, i tend to think vampires have terrible qualities.

They get burnt in the sun, only come out in the night, kill their prey not just drink from them, evil (as in they dont have an ounce of passion nor compassion), no conscience (meaning any act they do there is absolutely no remorse in those actions).

For those reasons i would never except the gift.....

But, trust me some traits i think vamps have like flight, mind alteration, attractiviness, etc....made me give it some thought.

It would be nice to get a "get out of jail free card" when wanting to eliminate evil humans and do good things with "the gift".....but then i would be hipocritical becasue that is saying that vamps have a conscience which i belive they don't.

So i would live out my very short uneventfull life as i am and live vicariously through those wonderful authors that fill my head with such great and unique worlds!

Jean Booth (jeanbooth) | 28 comments I'd take the gift. I've spent most of my life watching people I loved leave, I thrive in the dark, I'm already alone MOST of the time, if it weren't for the internet, I'd be alone even more. To have strength, not be sick, and to have the ultimate freedom...oh yes, sign me up.
To be fair though, and here's where I'll get the murderous looks, I'm not entirely sure I'd want to be Vampire. There are other things that go bump in the night and are equally immortal... (shifters) ;)

Omg, plz tell me you r not going to read Vampire Diaries, the BOOKS SUCKED!!!! The show is much better. It was so bad whoever had her under contract took the book from her and started using a ghostwriter!! While so not fair, she truly did suck, but the ghostwriter was no better I heard.

message 33: by Doe965 (new)

Doe965 My two cents..... does becoming a vampire automatically mean you lose your soul? Or do you lose your soul over time?

As for becoming a vampire, I guess it would depend on the vampire. If he was one of the BDB then hell yes. Yet, I think I would have my apprehension about spending eternity wandering. True the first century would be more about exploring the world but eventually it would get old. Now I might change my mind if I could give the same choice to those I would want to spend my time with for all eternity.

message 34: by Marielle (new)

Marielle Savoie (mrsavoie) | 5 comments I don't think being a vampire means you don't have a soul. I mean, one of the main components for personality is a soul, and though vampires have very little personality, they still have that personality. That being said, I believe that a vampires' soul has been compressed, not stolen is dissipated.

Jean Booth (jeanbooth) | 28 comments Tiffany wrote: "And yes, Jean, u r getting murderous looks, tho shifters r cool too. Lol"

lol. I figured. I didn't like Shifters at all until I read Kelley Armstrong's books. She does a really good job at making you fall in love with the furry. :)

message 36: by Paddy (new)

Paddy (paddythegod) | 9 comments Ummm let me think,do I want the dark gift? Yep, oh yes and definately. No need to be lonely, just do what Dracula did and have three gorgeous wives, I'm pretty sure I could past the time. I like the idea of being able to be judge ,jury ,and executioner to violent criminals, something that various authors have incorporated in their stories. The ability to live for ever is very appealing especially given the rate that technology advances and at the end of the day, if you've really had enough, you can always meet the sun. True Blood is a good example of how cool it would be to be a vampire.

message 37: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) If I could be one of the suave sexy Hollywood vampires, than yeah. But I don't want to be a Lost Boy or one of the vampires from 30 Days of Night.

And frankly, I expect that real vampires do not were tuxedoes,

Saint Vampire

INTRODUCTION

Every human being on the face of the earth has a story to tell. And so does every monster. This is my story. My gift to you. My special warning.
I tell you this story because I can. Because I am compelled to.

I vomit forth these words as an explanation of my damned existence.
I must write to cleanse my soul. It is a warning to you all because this fate of mine could easily become your own, if any of you foolishly choose to ignore my words.

Dear, dear, reader, please take heed and beware of the choices life offers you. Choices have consequences. And certain choices have consequences that chew at your soul from the inside-out, abrading it into dry nothingness. Nothingness that can be blown away with the slightest puff of air, replacing your humanity with an empty hole that never fills.

For The Lord's sake, and by all that is holy, please, please hold and think before you choose your course! Then be sure to choose wisely or your fate could be mine. And these words could be your words. And the hellish pain of my existence, your existence. And my story, your story. And my warning a gift that comes....too late.

PROLOGUE

Marcus held the voluptuous woman with ease, supporting her weight effortlessly with a single arm positioned across her upper back. She was unconscious and vulnerable. The struggle left her clothing in tattered shreds. The remaining scraps were wet from the rain, clinging to her torso in a flimsy effort of modesty. Fainting at the sight of him and those with whom he had just fought to gain her freedom, the woman remained limp in his arms.

Looking down at her exposed flesh, Marcus experienced hunger, passion, and pain. His eyes roamed over her supple form. All of his senses were focused on her heartbeat. He felt and heard its pulsing rhythm. He wanted to stop listening and looking, but he could not. The musky intoxicating scent of her sex filled his nostrils electrifying his male instincts. His arm automatically moved her closer towards his chest. He felt her warmth and the hot undulating blood flowing through her veins, urging him to possess her, ravage her, and taste her all at the same time until he had had his fill. The desire to feast and to plunge himself into her were both overwhelming. Even more intense was the ache buried deep within his immortal soul to bond with a warm-blooded woman as he had in the days before his changing.

Marcus dipped his head towards her breasts and inhaled deeply. Her breasts were round firm swells pointing their tips up towards him as her head lulled backwards on her shoulders. He could see her nubs surrounded by their small coral circles through the light blue sheer lace of her undergarments. She was braless beneath the sheerness.

Sweet Mother of God he longed for his past and his mortality. He lifted his head skyward looking towards the Kingdom of the Lord.

“Please, Dear Lord, give me the strength of character to continue on this path to which you have called me. Help me to persevere and remain faithful to Your Will, to do Your Work in Your Time, and set aside my own wilfulness.”

It was a heartfelt prayer for help, and it was answered almost immediately by The Lord, with an overwhelming calmness that touched Marcus’s soul.
Unusual circumstances, indeed, when you consider that the one doing the praying was a vampire.
