Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments You must write 200 words about the fairies and the jar of paper clips at the bottom of my garden.

All entries to be PM'ed to me by midnight, April 24th. Did I forget anything this time?

message 2: by B J (new)

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments That's something of a relief.

message 3: by Mago (new)

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments Oh dear! Can I borrow the group brain cell please.

message 4: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Nah - I've just hoovered it up!

message 5: by TonyQ (new)

TonyQ (tonytheq) | 175 comments Fairies I can cope with (no comments from Mago) but teamed up with paperclips? This comp gets wierder(?) every month!

message 6: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments So long as it includes fairies and a jar of paperclips you are sorted.

Maybe the fairy works in an office?

message 7: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Or the paperclips are magic.
Bum - that's my story line given away!

message 9: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Strewth Rosemary! You're a one-woman wonder!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Or a one-wonder woman?

message 11: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I'm sending one now. I hope it's right, I've never entered one of these before.

message 12: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Just PM me with any hate mail for including the jar of paper clips ;)

message 13: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I love paper clips. I can never remember the word for them though - I have to do the action of clipping papers together.
This is not connected to my age. Always been a blind spot. I've never been able to remember the English name for ermm.. bear with me ... foreget-me-nots. I mean, what a word to misremember!

message 14: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments just submitted mine

message 15: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments 3 entries already. Flip me

message 16: by Mago (new)

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments What is it with all these quick people? Have you no time on your hands just waiting to be wasted whilst mulling over the essence of your stories? Have you no moments to fill pondering? Or am I just too dim to come up with an idea for my entry?
Answers on a postcard please to ....

the point being not to waste time on it by knocking out an instant 200 words on the subject then forgetting all about it until Simon nudges us with a big stick to vote

message 18: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments I just used minor characters that I already had. Who happened to be fae (fairies). Writing 200 words has never been a problem for me, keeping it below 200, now that is difficult. I only wrote a scene. (half a scene really, it's a very short scene for me). I assumed it was pretty much a bit of fun to keep us writing. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

message 19: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It is just a little bit of fun.

message 20: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Or practice...

message 21: by Kath (last edited Apr 10, 2013 07:20AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments We all need to practice having fun!

Edit: who puts double n in havinng?

message 22: by Mago (new)

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments FUN??? This is a deadly serious competition! If I beat Tony Q (again) this month, he owes me a pint of Addleston's Best Cooking Cider!! Don't talk to me about FUN!!!

message 23: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments Is that a brand of cider or is it actually from addlestone?

message 24: by Mago (new)

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments http://www.addlestones.co.uk/
It's also the regular stuff from our local pub.

message 25: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It's actually Addlebrain Cider Emma. ;)

message 26: by Mago (new)

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments It's also good for cooking with ;-)

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments Ignite wrote: "It's actually Addlebrain Cider Emma. ;)"

You've been talking to our Stuart again ;-)

message 28: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I certainly have!

message 29: by Mago (new)

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments I do apologise Emma. I just realised you are rather new to this wonderful group. Please take every post I make with a large pinch of salt (a slice of lemon and a bottle of tequila).

message 30: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments It's fine. I'm used to it from the real world. I grew up near a town called addlestone and thought I might have missed a brewery there or something. (Really it wouldn't be all that surprising for me to have done so. I'm not terribly observant geographically speaking)

message 31: by B J (new)

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments Just a bit of fun - at this stage.
It's when the voting begins that threats of physical violence may be issued.

Haha!

message 33: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments oh no, the threat of violence is always between the lines of the stories :-)

ONE VOTE!! And I might not enter this time - Fairies are obviously my thing but paper clips - it stinks of fantasy too much and am rubbish at that

message 35: by TonyQ (new)

TonyQ (tonytheq) | 175 comments Ignite wrote: "It's actually Addlebrain Cider Emma. ;)"

I've seen him on it - ouch!!

message 36: by TonyQ (new)

TonyQ (tonytheq) | 175 comments Ok that's mine in - took a bit of thinking but not an obvious choice for me I think.

message 37: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments I've written mine now. The problem is it's 300 words. Time for some serious chopping! These challenges are a great exercise at making every word count!

message 38: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments It's a first! My entry is in NOT at the last minute!

message 39: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I've got quite a few entries so far. Keep them coming :o)

I don't find a problem with word count. All 3 of my last entries have been exactly 200 words! OCD kicking in.

message 41: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments Word counts are the bane of my existence. I end up having to replace all the linking words with commas or full stops (occasionally a semi-colon) but then I have no concept of how long anything is and managed to write a 150, 000 novel without really intending to.

message 42: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Last few days to get your entries in.

Wednesday at midnight!

message 44: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Deadline passed?

message 45: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It is now and I just posted the entries

message 46: by Emma (new)

Emma Faragher | 301 comments Is it bad that I only just realised that these are about paperclips and I've been picturing staples? They all sound good though.

message 47: by Simon (Highwayman) (last edited Apr 25, 2013 07:20AM) (new)
