Baisically it is a rant spot to tell us where your story started up to where your story is now....oh and also how you started it and what gave you the idea

example: (my story XD)

2011 ~ i was in israel, almost 14, at mum's bffl's (literally best friend for life.....:P) house cause mum was goin somewhere with my dad ;) jks and i think my bro was at a friends house ... anyways...

before that we just arrived to see a snippet of percy jackson (the part how he is useing water to fight with Luke)
anyways that night at about 11pm i got up out of the trampoline bed since i couldn't get to sleep so i took the paper and pen i used earlier to try and translate percy jackson 3 from hebrew to engish XD (failed) and i went into the liveing room and ..... just.... started writing.......

it ended up like this:

(this is a list of all the stupid stuff i somehow came up with)

~ A creature with the head of a pigeon and the body of a snake that has the head of a snake inside the bird's beak and has the wings of a bird and the venom can kill its victim in 30 seconds adn can somehow set a pegasus on fire by just biting it.

~ a creature with the body of a bear and the head of a lion

~ all the characters were called the translation of their elemental power in latin

~ their is this camp with a 13 storey round building with an observitory on top, a dungeon at the bottom and power testing rooms that resemble torture rooms (jks no it doesn't) and this is in the medival ages btw and each storey has a balcony and each are based on the needs of their elemental residants. and its a redicullesly tall round building that was built to HIDE elementals (rools eyes at self*

~ the actuall writing is horibble

~ i used first person and ekpt on accidently changeing to third xD

~ the way they came to the camp (the main characters) was absolutely ridiculus

~ the leader of the camp was an 11 foot long black snake called Lars XD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
anyways.... XD

a few weeks? month? later i decided to re-write the story

things i didn't chnage:

~ technically the elementasls for 'life' and 'death' are rulers and fighting each other in a sort of cold war.

~ the elementals part

~ the camp

~ the fact that Neal gets frozen in ice and Bianca must take him out of it

things that have improved and changed:

~ the charaacter's names

~ where the main 4 come from (before i hadn't thought this up)

~ Lars turned into my beloved Roald

~ The main story line

~ the quality of the writing

~ ugh can't bother anymore i've ggot a science project due tomorrow -.-'....

Anne Conley (anneconley) | 3 comments My stories start with a vague notion that rattles around my head for months before I write them down on paper. Then I write down the vague notions, and think some more. An outline is next. This helps me focus my ideas and flesh them out. I don't do subheadings and roman numerals and stuff, I stick with Chapter one: Claire moves into house she inherited from her uncle and falls into well. Hunky next door neighbor saves her and she gets embarrassed.

Then I write the rough draft, which fleshes it out more. Then I revise, (more fleshing). Each step adds more to the story, filling in holes. I don't try to do it all the first time. In fact, if in the rough draft, I get stuck, I skip it. I don't hurt myself trying to work through a tough scene until the revision. Anyway, that's how I do it.

Interesting. Sounds like it would take awhile.

Ubiquitous Bubba (ubiquitousbubba) My stories are character driven. I create them, put them in a strange setting, and then watch what happens. They often surprise me. When I'm writing, I frequently feel as though I'm reading the story for the first time and wondering what's going to happen next.

I start with the concept of the character including some amount of backstory. I imagine a bizarre setting for that character. I submit these elements to my subconscious mind, and have a bagel. I like them with lots of cream cheese and some peanut butter. Ideally, I'll also add bacon and American cheese slices. I once put a nutritionist into a coma by describing it. Anyway, when my subconscious self is done with the idea, my brain goes, "Ding!" and that part of the story is done. I start writing and see what it came up with. I'm often surprised by the results, but I know better than to argue.

Roxanne Shriver (roxannexshriver) 2006 - Had an idea for a story involving an evil clone and her good counterpart. When it became too long for just a short story, I expanded it into a book. By the end of this year, I decided that I was expand it into a series someday.

2008 - Sped through the next three books, using mainly funny scenes and long descriptions. Began editing the first book and sent it in to a publishing company. Was rejected, and went back to editing.

2011 - Gave my main character a complete makeover. The plot became a lot darker, reflecting how I've changed over the years. The ending isn't as good, so I worked mainly on fixing that.

2013 - New character introduced, the plot still pretty much the same since the last change.

2014 (now) - I have rewritten the novel five times now, and am still struggling with Chapter One. I've started turning to online writing communities for help, and have received a lot of advice.

Jennifer Priester (jenniferpriester) My most recent one, the third book in my series, started out as several short stories like the first two but somehow by the time I was done it had become a full length novel. During the process of editing it I read some reviews of my first book and although the one review never exactly stated why they felt my characters weren't fully developed I reread the first book and noticed that while it had several first person stories I never really detailed into any of the characters thoughts or feelings. The reader mostly had to figure this out the best they could. Even while my first book has won many fans and some reluctant readers as well I wanted to make each book better than the last so once I figured out what I assumed was the biggest problem I took a look at Book Three to see what I could add and where I could add it to make it better. Unfortunately this led to a length issue in which other pieces had to be cut. Although not really necessary to the events in the storyline one of my favorite pieces was among these cuts. However the book turned out really well in the end.

The Book, being the third in the series, started as a continuation of the main storyline I was telling. The characters were inspired by some of my favorite characters from TV and books such as the Sabrina the Teenage Witch live action show and book series as well as the animated Series, The Worst Witch book series and TV show, and the Bewitched TV show. The main plot/theme for this book and the rest of the series was largely inspired by the movie Halloweentown High although some influence came from all of the above mentioned places as well.

The other day I finished the writing for Books Four and Five in the Series and am having a bigger length issue than I did with Three. At this point in time I am searching for places to cut my stories even before my editor sees them. Luckily a few of the pieces I currently cut would fit in nicely with an unnumbered book in my series so I might not have to lose as much in the end.
