Glenn Soucy (gsoucy) | 37 comments When I was a kid, Star Wars came to theaters. I thought it was one of the best movies I’d seen. What did I like the best? Light Sabers of course. Why? Because they were completely original and new, and that was one of the many things that separated that movie from the others.
In my Blood Tithe series I created my own Light Saber of sorts. My chemically altered people can send out their “collectors” and gather energy from every living thing thus giving them unnatural strength and powers.
So what I wanted to know is, what’s your favorite original thing? It can be from a movie or from a book, even your own.
Please make sure it has a copyright.

Glenn Soucy (gsoucy) | 37 comments Hey Isaiah, thanks for responding. The Force was another amazing thing. I'd love to hear a good Yoda voice too. :)

I actually spent way more time than I should have researching online for anything remotely close to a real lightsaber. Does not exist. Sure wish it did.

But I'd probably end up lopping off one of my arms if I had one. LOL.

I haven't created any lightsaber original stuff, but I did throw in random quotes from star wars. I even have a vampire who quotes a line from Obi-wan Kenobi, because she mesmerizes people with her version of a Jedi mind trick.

:)

Michael Brookes (technohippy) I didn't, but a few years ago I did get given one by Lucasarts.

Which was nice :-)

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) | 88 comments Oh you bet! After Return of the Jedi came out, which I must have seen three, four times in the theater, a green light saber was the only thing in the world I wanted! Years later, I want a blue one! Maybe two...

I have made several light sabers with my kids... Those long cardboard tubes from wrapping paper, are perfect... Throw on some paint, your bath robe, and be prepared for an epic fight. :)

My thing is more jewelry--I own a cast silver key like the one in 'MirrorMask' that I had made...I made myself a charm bracelet based on the themes of the Sisters of Battle faction from Warhammer 40K...I'm getting a Farscape-style badge made for myself, too. Should I mention the Mockingjay pin or my plans to make a Doctor Who Scarf?

I'm a Jedi in my own mind."
Hey David, hope you're okay in Korea? Have you seen Men Who Stare at Goats, where the army used LSD to create Jedi Knights to fight with the power of minds. Hilarious and sad.

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) | 88 comments Coincidence here, but there's a close approximation of a light saber available for about just under $400. I just posted about it, take a look:

That is the most expensive flashlight you will ever find. I am sure the US govt. is buying them by the pallet right now.

At least that's what the invoice will say, $400 for a flashlight, right below the $400 hammer.

:)

Been there, done that. Cardboard tubes are great. They make light sabers, pirate swords, muskets, horns, sibling beaters. Very multipupose.
