Jaclyn Harrison | 35 comments Admittedly, I was not looking forward to a 985 page book. However, I use this group to read books that are already on my to-read list and have been there for years. In this case, Fall of Giants was the only WWI book on my to-read list, and I'm glad it was.

I basically knew nothing about WWI; I have always been much more interested in WWII. After reading this book, though, I will definitely be picking up more books from this genre. This book is a fantastic example of why I like historical fiction. You learn so much more about that time period because you are completely absorbed in the cast of characters the author creates. The difficulty with following 5 different families, is you wish you had more time with each. I know this was a complaint some had regarding the book, however, I preferred having the perspective of the different countries involved in the war.

This book hooked me right from the beginning and I can't wait to pick up the 2nd book, which picks up where the 1st book left off!
