Ashley (icecheeseplease) This is currently the top post on reddit r/books:

HBO - American Gods

And this just popped up on my fb feed:

A study in Emerald - Boardgame

Pretty exciting! Looks like American Gods is going to be my next read so that I can keep up with a show for once!

Woah! I feel like the call of Neil Gaiman is reigning down! I just wrote a blog post on the book yesterday. BBC Radio 4 actually released a Neverwhere radio play not too long ago too!

Ashley (icecheeseplease) Great blog post, it really makes me want to read the book!

Here's Neil's wiki page:

He has done a lot!

I loved American Gods, but it definitely seems like a love it or hate it book. I can't wait for the show or the sequel!

Neil Gaiman was one of the first writers to give me the creeps from reading a children's book. It was his Coraline book.

I read it after I saw the movie, both are very good!

That sounds great! Just added it to my 'to-reads'- And it looks like it's only a few days away from releasing!

So on the note that Neil Gaiman is everywhere... he's coming to Toronto. I have really good seats to where he'd doing his Q&A and stuff. Getting his new book so I can get it signed. Words cannot express my excitement!

Greg | 8 comments "Good Omens" right? Just bought it this weekend but haven't started yet. That reminds me, I need to add it to my shelf.

I'm halfway through and have mixed feelings about it. It's imaginative and genuine, but it also seems to be a bit slow. I didn't enjoy American Gods until the halfway point so I'm hoping that's the case with this too.

All that being said, this book is incredibly short. I've only read for a bit over and hour and am already half done. Going to finish it now.

I actually meant The Ocean at the End of the Lane :)

Ashley (icecheeseplease) I plan on picking up The Ocean at the End of the Lane someday soon, after I've caught up on some of my other books-- but I did read Good Omens not that long ago. Maybe it was too hyped and so my expectations were too high but IMO, it was a good three stars. I liked Good Omens, but I didn't *really* like it.

I only have a little bit left of it, and I have to agree. As with all of Gaiman's writing, I always find it interesting. But I don't know what it is. Maybe because it is so short, but I don't feel like I got into it really. Felt like a short story that didn't really capture my interest that much. I had sort of the same issue early on with American Gods, but I learned to like it a while into it. This one, I won't have that chance. Oh well.

Jennifer | 185 comments Ah, Rose, so cool! I bet he was fun to see! What sort of age range is his kid's book for?

I've always thought it would be great to go to a reading or signing by David Sedaris-- I can't imagine he is anything short of hilarious, since his books are (for me) some of the funniest works I've read.

Back to Gaimon, I finally got a copy of American Gods from my favorite used book store, The Amazing Alonzo. I saw it on the desk right when I walked in and asked of that was someone's purchasing pile. It wasn't so I grabbed it like a kid grabbing a candy bar. The lady at the shop said she just can't keep the Gaimon on the shelf!

The age range I think would be particularly appropriate for ages 5-10 :)

I actually won a signed copy of Ocean just before it was widely released but haven't read it yet. My bad.....Count me in on the discussion for American G-ds. (I am Jewish and we never mention His name that is why typed this way)
