Kate (kaitlins16) Anybody interested in lending ebooks through Amazon (or B&N)? I've got a lot of ebooks I can lend out to you guys (and I know Elizabeth does too).

message 2: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) I don't.

message 3: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (BerlinChick) | 36 comments Hi Kaitlin,

I just thought about how sad it is that I can't share all my kindle books. Am I wrong? Can I lend them, let's say, to people of our group? I'd love to do that.

message 4: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) You can post any of your lendable books here to see if anyone would want to borrow from you. That's what I would like this thread to be used for. :)

message 5: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (BerlinChick) | 36 comments Ok, but I still don't understand how you could lend my books. Aren't they only on my kindle? How do you get access?

message 6: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) You don't know how lending ebooks works?

message 7: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) To any Amazon ebook readers that are interested in lending/borrowing, here is where you can learn more info on how it works --> http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custome...

It explains it way better than I can.

Kate (kaitlins16) Here's the bad news, and I just read this on Amazon:
At this time, Kindle book lending can only be initiated by customers residing in the United States. If a loan is initiated to a customer outside the United States, the borrower may not be able to accept the loan if the title is not available in their country due to publisher geographical rights.

So, I guess that means no one outside the U.S. can lend an ebook out to someone through Amazon.

message 9: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (BerlinChick) | 36 comments This is wonderful!!! I hope it works for the German Amazon shop too. Let me check this first before I get too excited ;)

Well, it's not working of course :(

I'm gonna call the kindle service today and ask them how we could fix this. I've got over a 100 books and I'm sure a few are lendable. It would be a shame to not share them with you.

message 10: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (BerlinChick) | 36 comments Yes Kaitlin, that's what I found :(

But when connecting my account with the US site it shows me "you're contents are currently connected to the German Amazon.de". Doesn't that implicate that a change into the US shop is possible? That way I maybe could eventually get a chance to purchase all the books that are not available over here.

I'm gonna call kindle service later ;)

message 11: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (BerlinChick) | 36 comments Sooo, here is the solution. I may be able to change my address with Amazon to an US address. That way I can use the borrow/lend function and I could get access to the US book market (yay!!!). I'll do that later on the pc to use an American proxy. I hope that sends my already purchased books, there shouldn't be any publisher rights problems.

message 12: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (BerlinChick) | 36 comments Well, I changed my account (glad that worked, thank you for the idea!!) but apparently none of my purchased books are lendable- and I even had to check each one separately. This is frustrating.

If it wouldn't be out of fear for my account, I'd just add someone's other kindle device.

:( If only if it were that easy hahaha.

I hope to see some lending even though I'm not US!

message 16: by Isabelle (new)

So, what I wanted to write is that I finally changed it the right way and am able to lend books. I don't know which yet, but I'll provide a list in a few hours.

How does that book linking with cover work? Want it to be as nice as your selection ;)

If you don't you can always switch your Amazon account and your Kindle account (Manage your kindle) to an US account but you've got to provide an US address. I used 'borderlinx' to create one, it's for free and it does work!

Woah, these are many books!! Can't get the grin out of my face :-D

No, I didn't read the Existence trilogy yet but I just saw you've got the Covenant series and I'd really love to read this one if it's ok with you.

Ooooh and I just saw there is a 5th part to the star-crossed series? The reluctant king? Did you read it? How was it? I thought it was a good ending with Endless Magic. Should I leave it at that? Oh but I think I can't, I loved the four books, I think I just HAVE to read the 5th one.

Now that's a dilemma... always so difficult for a libra like me to make a decission. You could make one for me, that'd be easier ;)

Btw I love adult books as well ;) and I have the kindle app so that'll work. I'm so thankful to Kaitlin for this wonderful idea and for both of you to take the time and check which of your books are lendable! I also am glad if anyone wants to read one of my books. Just let me know!

I'll add you now. And gonna check which Email address you have to give Amazon so the other one can recieve a book.

message 25: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (BerlinChick) | 36 comments You know what? I just read that there are two other parts of the star-crossed series still to come and I'd rather wait till at least the second one is out.

That definitely leaves the Covenant series for now. If you don't mind.

message 26: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 2466 comments ok just give me an email to send it to I will send the first covenant and I haven't read the star crossed series I was going to thats why I got them all but then got distracted with buddy read BOTM and themed challenges so there just sitting on my Kindle some of the books you can get free still on kindle and thats how I get them but some are only free for a little while and the list above is only the beginning of it I am working on the rest

I suggest to borrow the ebooks when you know you'll be able to read them. You get seven days to accept a lend, and two weeks after that before your lend ends. Ebooks can only be lent out once, too.

So, just tell me when you want to borrow that ebook from me.
