I have read Water for Elephants too. I read it with my Red Hat group. I am thinking Penmarric but that was actually set before World War I believe.

Flapper sounds good. I also liked Of Mice and Men, The Worst Hard Time and The Time It never Rained (set in Texas) and Rebecca of course.

Barbara (barbarabook) | 2 comments How about A Given Day by Dennis Lahane? It is set in 1917 and 1918 so that put it 'between the wars' and it was a good read.

I hope you're adding the titles! I've just started The House at Riverton, Barbara.
